HTC Rhyme Review Image 1-NJTechReviews

Our friends over at HTC have sent us the HTC Rhyme for review! Back in September we did a hands-on with the HTC Rhyme and now we have the full review! It was designed for women, even though if you like it you should get it. HTC and Verizon  have still not said that it was just designed for women. It is also one of the newest additions to the Verizon’s 3G Device Lineup. Now, let’s get started with the full review of the HTC Rhyme!

Design and Hardware

The HTC Rhyme has some good hardware and an equally nice design. Now, the color of the phone is purple, so you can tell that it is meant for female users. It is mostly a dark purple, except for a light purple aluminum strand that goes across the back of the device. It has pretty good build to it. It’s dimensions are 4.6 inches X 2.4 inches with a thickness of only .4 inches! It is also very light weight, making it super portable! On the top of the device you have the headphone jack and the power/sleep button. The volume rocker can be found on the right hand side. The left hand side is home your micro USB port. On the back you have the speaker, 5 mega-pixel camera with LED flash and the HTC logo. Above the screen you have the VGA front facing camera, ear piece, and the Verizon logo. The 4 android buttons are found under the screen. Those are the home, menu, back, and search buttons. If you take the back cover off you will find the 8GB pre-installed micro SD card. The design is great and it is very easy to find everything you need. The HTC Rhyme has a 3.7 inch WVGA Super LCD Display. It gives great colors and is overall an awesome screen. For speed it has a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM 8655 Processor, it runs very well. It also has 768MB of RAM to help out as well. In terms of space it has 4GB’s of internal memory and a pre-installed 8GB micro SD card. You have a total of 12GB of space to store all of your data. It runs on Verizon’s Nationwide 3G Network. Overall, the hardware on the HTC Rhyme is great and gets the job done!

Operating System

The HTC Rhyme is running Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with HTC Sense. The HTC Rhyme is the first phone to offer the newest version of HTC Sense. That is HTC Sense 3.5, it brings a brand new look to HTC Sense. Some of the features are specific and only available on the HTC Rhyme. For instance you have the new home screen. The famous HTC Weather and Time widgets is now in the bottom right hand corner. It still has all of the great features. You now have the new quick launch widget. This enables you to access your most important apps very quickly. You can either fully open them or see their latest updates all with tap of your finger. If you want to chance one of those icons, there are some simple to steps to change it. Touch and hold on the widget and then drag it to the setting button in the bottom left hand corner. From there select app and then choose which app you would like to be there. I think that this is a great new feature of HTC Sense 3.5 . You also get some new skins and wallpapers, some that are exclusive to the HTC Rhyme. They also moved the personalization button, it is now inside of the menu. To access the personalization feature, just tap the menu button and then hit “personalization”. They have also re-done the personalization app, on the bottom you have add to home, display, and sound. To change the skin, go to display and then hit skin. There are 3(three) different skin options on the HTC Rhyme those are HTC, Olivine, and Turquoise. These are 3(three) great options that you can choose from. They also have many new wallopers like, a park, skyline, a bird, a building from the bottom up, and many other great options. With HTC Sense 3.5 we can also see that it moves much faster. In terms of pre-loaded apps there are some that come pre-loaded. Those are like Amazon Kindle, Endo-mondo, Facebook, Friend Stream, Mobile Hotspot, My Verizon Mobile, Polaris Office, Scan, V Cast Music, Google App Suite, Verizon Video, VZ Navigator, and more. Overall, HTC Sense 3.5 adds some great new features to the HTC Rhyme.

HTC Rhyme Out-Of-The-Box Accessories

When HTC first announced the HTC Rhyme, they blew us away with the amount of accessories that come with the phone. Those accessories are the HTC Charm, Tangle-Free Headphones, and the charging dock. Let’s start with the HTC Charm, this is a really cool accessory. It is a charm that plugs into your headphone jack. It is on a string so it can hang out of your pocket or out of your purse. And it will light up or vibrate when you get a text or a notification. It all depends on what you set it for. This is a really cool feature that hopefully will be coming to other phones soon. Next we have the Tangle-Free Headphones, this is something that everyone needs. They are good headphones that cannot get tangled. This thanks to its special flat cord design. Now, these are not Beat’s By Dre headphones, that are found with the HTC Rezound. They are HTC’s own headphones and they are pretty good. They are the same purple color that the phone and the charm are also colored with. Next we have the charing dock, this is also a really cool accessory. It can be used as a Bluetooth Speaker, a Digital Photo Frame, a charger for your phone, and a holder for it be your alarm clock. It has some many different uses and most people will use all of them. Since it charges it while it does everything else, it will not tank your battery to use it as a Bluetooth speaker. The dock is also not that big, so it will make a nice addition to your night stand. The accessories that HTC Rhyme will give you so many different uses.

Bottom Line

The HTC Rhyme is an awesome phone with many great features. It has a great 3.7 inch WVGA Super LCD Display! It’s 1GHz Qualcomm MSM 8655 Processor will make sure that there are no delays when using the phone. It is also the first phone running HTC Sense 3.5, as we discussed before it brings many great new feature to HTC Sense. The 3(three) accessories that come with the HTC Rhyme will make your experience with the device even better. If you’re looking for a great smartphone, and don’t mind the color begin purple than the HTC Rhyme is the right device for you. The HTC Rhyme retails for $199.99 with a 2-year contract or $439.99 with out a contract. You Can Get The Verizon HTC Rhyme, By Clicking Here. We would like to thank HTC for providing us with a copy of the “Verizon HTC Rhyme”.
