Our friends over at Lenovo have sent us the ThinkCentre M92p Tiny for us to review. This is ThinkCentre’s smallest and most compact desktop ever, yet it still features many of the great features of a larger computer. They have paired it with Lenovo’s ThinkVision LT2323z Wide Monitor, and they work very well together. Keep in mind that Lenovo’s ThinkCentre side is mainly for business but, this can also be used as a multimedia computer. So, should you go out and get the ThinkCentre M92p? We will answer that in the full review which beings now!
Design And It’s Green Thumb
As I mentioned before the ThinkCentre M92p Tiny has a very small and compact design. It is the industry’s first 1-liter Intel Vpro capable computer. And it is a thick as a golf ball, so around 1.4 inches to be exact. So, for someone who has a small home office or a cubicle at work, or someone just looking for a computer that takes up less space the M92p Tiny may be good for you. And let’s say you wont to mount the M92p under desk or behind a monitor, well Lenovo has answered your desires, they have many different mounts available for purchase. This way you can set up your computer the way you want it to be. You can also attach a second hard drive, optical disk, WiFi capabilities, or battery pack. So, Lenovo is making this a very customizable device. Now, we also mentioned that the M92p Tiny has a green thumb, and Lenovo made this a very important piece of the desktop. It has a high-efficiency power supply, power management software and a Intel processor, make’s it very energy-efficient. It is EnergyStar 5.2, UL Environment Gold, Cisco Energy Wise, and EPEAT Gold Certified! It also has ICE or Intelligent Cooling Engine, which is a software and hardware feature that intelligently controls the system cooling functions. It monitors temperatures in real-time, can change the speed of the fans which helps to make the computer run quieter and cooler. It will help to reduce the noise levels in your office and keep the computer running software. Overall, Lenovo did a great job making sure the ThinkCentre M92p Tiny was super green and a nice design.
Hardware, Software, And Display
The ThinkCentre M92p Tiny also has some great hardware. Our review unit has an Intel Core i5 2.9GHz processor, which keep this tiny going very fast. And it doesn’t get to hot or too loud thanks to the Intelligent Cooling Engine. For even more speed you get up to 16GB of RAM, our review unit had 4GB’s and it ran very well. Video graphics aren’t the best on the market, but you do get a Intel HD Graphics 2500 card. But we wouldn’t use this desktop for gaming. For hard-drive space we got a 500GB(5400RPM), which should be fine for most offices and homes. We did have an optical drive in our review unit, you get a DVD+RW, and if you wanted a second optical drive or a hard-drive you simply request another one when ordering. In terms of ports you get an Ethernet port, 5 USB Ports, HD Audio Port, and more. And of course you also get a keyboard and mouse with the desktop. Lenovo also decided to include RapidBoot, which drastically improves the boot-up time, awake from sleep time, and much more. They have reconfigured the drivers, complied and imaged most pre-installed software, they have the HDD accelerator using RAM as a cache for the boot files, this will hugely improve the startup time of the computer. And you may have imagined it did do this! It has a Intel vPro with Intel Active Management Technology(AMT) for management and maintenance, this will let you customize the computer. This way you can make it run better. However, we do suggest an IT professional do the remote accessing, fix the problems, diagnose the problems, and securing the desktops. This will help you keep costs down and overall make the life of your computer better. Lenovo paired our review unit and suggest customers to use the ThinkVision LT2323z 23-inch VOIP monitor. First of all this monitor is the world’s 1st Microsoft Lync VOIP monitor, and integrates collaborative and communication right into the monitor. It has a nice 23-inch IPS Wide Screen Display that has a resolution of 1920 X 1080. It features an integrated HD Webcam with HD microphone. It features dual-speakers as well. And like most other monitors on the market today, it can tilt and be mounted on many surfaces as well. The Lenovo ThinkVision LT2323z 23-inch VOIP monitor retails for $399.99 and is a good value for the price.
Bottom Line
The Lenovo ThinkCentre M92p Tiny is a very nice desktop, but it seems more of a business machine than a home computer. It features a nice design, that can be used in almost any working environment or office. It can mounted behind the display or under the desk, and that is just the beginning. It also has a green thumb, and being energy-efficient is something that is very important. And the ThinkCentre M92p Tiny certainly has the credentials to prove its green thumb. Even though it has a compact design it still runs very fast thanks to its great hardware and awesome software. Lenovo also paired it with a great display the ThinkVision LT2323z 23-inch VOIP monitor. The Lenovo ThinkCentre M92p Tiny starts at $868.99, and you can customize it to your liking. For More Info On The Lenovo ThinkCentre M92p Tiny, Please Click Here.
