Droid Turbo

Verizon Wireless and Motorola have just officially announced the Droid Turbo, and yes it has been cleared for landing all along. The much rumored device, is real and it does seem like a pretty fast phone that is deserving of the Droid namesake. This is Verizon’s newest device from Motorola, but keep in mind they already offer the new Moto X and are getting the Nexus 6. But this is the latest Droid to hit the carrier, since the trio that were announced last summer. As rumored the hardware and specifications make this a beast of a smartphone.

As Verizon put it’s, Droid Turbo will boost everything you do, in terms of design it continues the built-tough theme Droid’s have had in the past. The 64GB variant of the phone features Ballistic Nylon, while you can also get this model or the 32GB model in a Kevlar® unibody design. Both of these are scratch resistant display and weather-proof. Motorola and Verizon made sure this device would be super durable and it seems that they accomplished this. The Droid Turbo will be coming in either a Verizon Red or a black color, both seem pretty nice though.

On the hardware side, they made sure that they device will boost what you do as well. For starters, it is powered by Verizon’s lightning fast and super reliable 4G LTE network. Plus, it is powered by a 2.7GHz Qualcomm APQ 8084 Quad Core Processor with 3GB’s of RAM. You get a 5.2-inch 2560 X 1440 Quad HD display with 565 pixels per inch. It is a running a Motorola Droid skin over Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat and you get a choice of either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, there is no micro SD card slot on the Droid Turbo. In terms of software features, you get Touchless Control, Active Display, the Moto Smart OS, Droid Zap, and much more! Verizon and Motorola are saying you get up to 48 hours of battery life on the Droid Turbo, plus you have embedded wireless charging and it works with the Turbo Charger which gives you 8 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes. On top of all of this, you get a 21 megapixel camera on the back with an LED flash and a 2 megapixel camera on the front. Last but not least, it is safe to your data is secure on the Droid Turbo with AES 256-bit full device encryption of date both at rest or in transit and FIPS 140-2 Level 1 encryption of PIM applications. To say the least the Droid Turbo is packed with hardware and features, it seems it is just missing a micro SD card slot.

You are probably wondering how much the Droid Turbo will be costing you, well one last thing I should not is that, like all Droids, the Turbo is exclusive to Verizon. The 32GB variant with a 2-year contract comes in at $199.99 or with no-contract is $599.99. The 64GB model comes in at $249.99 with a 2-year contract and for $649.99 with no-contract. The Droid Turbo will also be available on Verizon Edge with pricing coming soon. And the the big question, is when can you get your Droid Turbo? Well, the answer is very soon, the device will be available for purchase on October 30th!
