Our friends over at Verizon Wireless sent us over a HTC Droid Incredible 2. Our first impression was this is an awesome phone. To start off it is the successor to the original Verizon Wireless HTC Droid Incredible. The Verizon Wireless HTC Droid Incredible 2 is a world phone. This means it uses both GSM and CDMA. In the US it will use the CDMA radio, however else where in the world it will use the GSM. However it is only a 3G phone, not a 4G Phone. We don’t see this being such a big problem though. We will have a photo gallery at the end. For now let’s get started with the full review on the Verizon Wireless HTC Droid Incredible 2!

Features

The HTC Droid Incredible 2 from Verizon Wireless is a world phone. This means that if your going overseas you can stop by your Verizon Wireless and get you world sim card and have them activate it. Then you are good to use the phone over seas. This is a nice feature and is definitely something that makes this an incredible phone. The phone has a 4-inch touch screen, big enough to see everything on your phone. It is also great quality. It has a front and rear camera, both with excellent quality, as expected. The rear camera is 8 mega-pixels. The front camera is 1.3 mega-pixels. It is running Android 2.2 with HTC Sense. It has Adobe Flash 10.1 on it, so you can enjoy flash on your phone. On the bottom of the front of the phone you have 4 touch buttons. They are your home, menu, back, and search buttons. They are standard for most android phones. They also come in very handy, while using the Incredible 2. On the left side of the phone, you have a micro USB input, this for charging and connecting to your computer. The Micro-USB is becoming an industry standard. On the top of the phone you have your power/sleep button. On the right hand side you have your volume rocker. On the back you have your rear 8 mega-pixel camera. Next to it you have two LED Flashes. Under that it says HTC in black. Next to it you have your speaker. On the very bottom is says, “with Google”. On the back there is a bump that is where the battery is located. Overall the thickness of the phone is not to bad, it is quite thin. It is running on Verizon’s 3G Network, that covers most of the US. Overall the HTC Droid Incredible 2 is one power house phone.

Android 2.2 OS(Operating System)

The HTC Droid Incredible 2 is running Android 2.2 with HTC Sense on top of it. HTC Sense is a great feature that is built into every Android Smart Phone that they make. It gives you some amazing new features, including the classic weather/clock widget that it adds. It gives you more customization to the phone. Android 2.2 Froyo is newest Android OS on the market. It gives you all the things Android comes with, including the Android Market. This where you can get all of the apps you would want. The phone itself comes pre-loaded with Backup Assistant, Mobile IM, Visual Voice Mail, 3G Mobile Hotspot, Blockbuster, City ID, Amazon Kindle, Lets Golf2, My Verizon Mobile, NFL Mobile, NFS Shift, Skype 3G, Slacker, VCAST Apps, Music, Tones, Videos, VZNavigator. For some of the apps that it comes with, they are links to download either trial ro full version. This is nice, so that they do not take up to much space on the phone right when you get it. The “Skype 3G” enables you to make Skype calls over 3G, this is a nice app to have on there right when you get the phone. The 3G Mobile Hot-Spot enables you to share your wireless network with some devices around you. This comes in handy, if you need to use your laptop/tablet and need an internet connection. Overall Android 2.2 with HTC Sense runs great on the HTC Droid Incredible 2!

Network

Many people know that Verizon Wireless’s 3G Network is one of the top ones in the nation. Ah but, how fast is it? We put it to the test on the HTC Droid Incredible 2. We used “Speedtest.net Mobile”, to see how fast it really is. You can see our results below.

Test 1 -Ping 148ms, Download 918kbps, Upload 680kbps

Test 2-Ping 177ms, Download 1288kbps, Upload 800kbps

Test 3-Ping 196ms, Download 872kbps, Upload 671kbps

Test 4-Ping 191ms, Download 691kbps, Upload 635kbps

Test 5-Ping 186ms, Download 716kbps, Upload 846 kbps

As you can see Verizon’s 3G Network is really fast. Our highest test score was; “Test 2-Ping 177ms, Download 1288kbps, Upload 800kbps”. As you can tell at different times the speeds are different, this is expected. Also, it all depends on how well Verizon Wireless Network is in your area. Overall we are very impressed with the Network Speeds on the HTC Droid Incredible 2.

Camera

The HTC Droid Incredible 2 has an 8 Mega-Pixel camera in the back. This makes for some great quality photos. When you view what the camera is seeing on the screen, the quality is amazing. On the app screen you can change the recording option either to video or to a still image. Under that you can set flash to “Auto”, “On”, or “Off”. This is all done by just the tap of the flash button. Under that you have the shutter button, when you tap it take a photo, or starts recording the movie. Under that you have all fo the effects you can choose from. The effects are “No Effect”, “Distortion”, “Vignette”, “Depth of Field”, “Vintage”, “Vintage Warm”, “Vintage Cold”, “Grayscale”, “Sepia”, “Negative”, “Solarize”, “Posterize”,, “Aqua”. The effects are chosen before you take the photo. They all look great and add a nice touch to your photos. Under that button you have the “Gallery” button, there you can see all of the photos/videos you have on your phone. If you push the menu button, your new options are “Switch Camera”, “Self-Timer”, “Image Adjustments”, White Balance”, “Resolution”, “ISO”, “Review Duration”, “Widescreen”, “Geo-Tag Photos”, “Auto Focus”, “Face Detection”, “Shutter Sound”, “Grid”, and “Reset To Default”. All of these options come in handy. On the side you also have your “ZOOM” control. They also make for a very nice camera app, that adds to the greatness of the HTC Droid Incredible 2.
