The Nexus S 4G is the Google phone, it is made by Samsung and is running on Sprint’s 4G Network. They also have the Nexus S, which is the same phone except no 4G. This version of the phone is amiable on AT&T and T-Mobile. The phone it self has a beautiful design. It has a “contour touch screen”, the first of it’s kind. The best part is that it works great in the sun. It is running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It is the pure Google experience. Now, let’s get started with full review.
Design and Hardware
The design of the Nexus S 4G, is great. It has a 4 inch display, it makes viewing anything on the phone better. It also works great in sunlight, you can see it very nicely with no almost difference from the view when you are looking inside. Under the screen you have your touch buttons, there are 4(four) of them. They are found on almost any Android device. They are your back, menu, search, and home button. On the right hand side you have the power button. On the left hand side you have your volume rocker. On the bottom of the phone you have your mini-USB port and headphone jack. On the back in the left hand corner you have a 5 mega-pixel camera and a flash. In the middle of the back it says “Google” and on the bottom it says “Samsung”. The phone is 0.43 inch thick and weighs in at 4.55 ounces. So, it is not that heavy but, not that thin. It is 4.88 inches long by 2.48 inches, so it is a nice sized phone. The phone also has a NFC chip built in. NFC is Near Field Communication, it can be used with “Google Wallet” or “Isis”. For instance, to pay with some credits all of you have to do is tap the scanner, this same technology is now in your phone. In the future many things will use NFC, it will help you save money for instance. Having this in your phone will open up a world of opprutuintes. Now, having a fast phone is important. The Nexus S 4G has you covered inside it has a 1GHz processor. Android 2.3 Gingerbread takes advantage of this speed, because it is the latest and greatest Android OS(Operating System). The screen is a 4-inch 480×800 Super AMOLED con trued display. This will give you the best viewing quality out there. Now, network speed is important also. It runs on Sprint’s 4G WiMax Network. It is one of the fastest in the nation. Of course Network Speed depends on your individual area, and there Network Strength in your area. 4G has to be turned on, so if you want it on you will have to turn it on. The bad part is that it will occasionally shut it self-off. Overall, 4G worked very well. The speeds with it were faster than 3G. Overall, the Nexus S 4G’s design and hardware is great!
The Samsung Nexus S 4G running on Sprint’s 4G Network has 2(two) cameras. The first camera is located on the above the screen in the top-right-hand corner. It is a VGA-Camera. It is mainly meant for video chatting or taking photos of you. It is not the highest quality camera, but it gets the job done. The light of the screen provides the light so it sees your face or what ever the camera is pointing to. We suggest you have good lighting conditions, as sometime the screen may not cut it. The back is were you have an actual camera. You also have an actual flash not he back. It has a 5 mega-pixel camera with a flash on the back. This found on the back in the top-left-hand-corner. It doesn’t have the standard Samsung camera app, it is basically the Android camera app. There are some effects like, Flash Mode, White Balance, Store Location, Focus Mode, Exposure, Scene Mode, Picture Size, Picture Quality, Color Effect, Camera Setting, Video, Photo, Gallery, and Switch Camera. So, once you go into setting and start playing around with it you can customize it to your likings. This way you can get the best shot possible. Overall, the cameras on the Samsung Nexus S 4G(Sprint) is very good.
The Samsung Nexus S 4G running on Sprint’s Network, is a good phone. It is a “pure Google experience”, as it is the Google phone. It was designed with Google and Samsung. There are other phones on the market that offer better features, but for what it is, it is a great phone. And at only $99 with a 2-year contract it is a steal. Without a contract it is not a steal, you will have to pay $549.99 . So we don’t suggest getting it with-out a contract. The 4G speeds are very good, but keep in mind make sure Sprint has good connection in your area. If you are a Sprint customer who is looking for a new phone and wants a smart-phone. The Nexus S 4G is for you, while it is not a basic smart-phone, it is also not top of the line. It gets the job done, and we would recommend it to all.
