LG T-Mobile G2x - NJTechReviews

Our friends at LG sent us over a T-Mobile G2x to Review. It is the US version of the Optimus X2. It is running Froyo, with LG’s UI Customazations. Overall, just from a quick look it looks like a great phone. Now, lets get started with the full review of the T-Mobile G2x!

Hardware And Design Of The G2x

The G2x’s hardware is great. For starters it has a 4-inch touchscreen display(800 x 480-pixel resolution), 8GB internal storage, 8 mega-pixel camera, 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, and 512MB of ram. The display gives great, bright, and clear colors. Ultimately it adds up to a great picture. Having a NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, will make the graphics insane; This works perfectly on the G2x. It also adds a good amount of speed into the phone. The G2x is not that big of a phone. While it does have a 4 inch screen, it is only .43inches thick. This helps make the phone seem smaller, it also only weighs 5 ounces. So, the phone has a lot packed into it, but it is not to heavy or thick. On the back of the phone you have your 8 mega-pixel camera and flash. It also has piece of aluminum with “Google” written on it next to the camera. It adds a nice pop of color to the phone, making it look a lot more fancy. It is a very nice touch to the phone. That is not the only camera on the phone, on the front you have a 1.3 mega-pixel camera for video chatting. On the top of the phone you have your HDMI port, power/sleep button, and head phone jack. On the right hand side you have your volume rocker. On the bottom of the phone you have your micro USB port. Overall the design and hardware of the G2x is great.

Software-Android

When the G2x launched it was running Android 2.2 Froyo. However since it launch, it had been upgraded to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. This gives the G2x the power of Google. The NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor definitely speeds up the OS, it runs very fast. LG left out many UI Customizations on the phone, some people will like this. It is a very pure Google experience. It has the basic Android Keyboard, it works well for most people. T-Mobile has included some apps pre-installed on the phone, some of them are; TeleNav GPS Navigator, Qik Video Chat, T-Mobile TV, NVIDIA’s Tegra Zone, EA Games, and many more. The NVIDIA’s Tegra Zone app was a surprise to find on the phone, but it really show cases the great graphics and speed the G2x is capable of doing.

Bottom Line

The T-Mobile G2x is a great phone. At $199.99 is fits with the prices of the other T-Mobile smart phones. The NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor adds a punch of great graphics and very fast speeds to the phone. It has the latest Android Software available to date. It runs on T-Moibles 3G and 4G Network, gives you access to fast speeds. The 8 mega-pixel camera also adds to the greatness of the phone. Overall, we would recommend the LG T-Mobile G2x to anyone in the market for a new smart-phone. You Can Buy Or Get More Info On The LG T-Mobile G2x, By Clicking Here.
