Verizon Wireless LG Revolution Front Image - NJTechReviews

Our friends over at LG have sent us a LG Revolution for review. It is the third 4G LTE phone on Verizon’s 4G LTE Network. It is certified by Verizon 4G LTE, meaning that this will give you some wicked fast speeds. Now, lets get started with the full review of the LG Revolution.

Design, Hardware, & Battery

The LG Revolution is Verizon’s third 4G LTE phone, so it does have to live up to the other two. For starters it has a nice 4.3 inch LCD Display, with a resolution of 800×480-pixels. The screen is not as good as the Super AMOLED Display on the Samsung Droid Charge. Though the screen is still good, just it’s not the best on the market. Below the screen you have your normal Android buttons. Those would be your settings, home, back, and search. they come in handy a lot, when using the phone. Above the screen you have your “Verizon” logo, a LED Indicator, Earpiece, and a 1.3 mega-pixel camera for video-chatting and photos. On the top of the phone you have your power/sleep button and your headphone jack. On the right side you have some features hidden in the aluminum siding. First of all you have your “volume rocker” at the top. But as you go down the side you will see “HDMI” written on the aluminum. Yes, the LG Revolution has a mini HDMI port, this way you can stream movies from your phone to your TV. Keep in mind the LG Revolution can watch movies from Netflix. So, the HDMI port will come in very handy if you are a Netflix user. And the speeds for watching it will be Verizon’s insanely fast 4G LTE Network speeds. Add them both to together and you can have a great movie watching experience. You only have one thing hidden behind the aluminum siding on the left hand side. That one thing is your mini USB port. The little door that covers the port, has the USB port logo on it. Overall it adds to the design of the phone. It also adds some color, considering the rest of the phone is black. When you flip it onto the back you, will find your camera, LED Flash, and your “LG”, “Verizon”, and “4GLTE” logos. This adds a very small pop of color to the phone. The camera on the back is 5 mega-pixels, so it will give you some nice photos. It also records 720pHD video. You can also stream that video to a TV via the HDMI port. The Revolution comes with a pre-installed 16GB mini SD card, however it can be upgraded to a 32GB mini SD card if you choose to do so. While the LG Revolution does not have a dual-core processor, it still has a fast 1GHzQualcomm Snapdragon processor. Believe me when i say that it gets the job done and it does fairly well. When you match that processor up with the 4G LTE speeds of Verizon Network you, won’t notice a difference between what it has and a dual-core. The LG Revolution is 5.1 inches long by 2.6 inches wide by 0.5 inch thick, so it is not the smallest phone on the market. Now, like the battery in the Verizon HTC Thunderbolt, it is not the best. The Samsung Droid Charge was the only one out of the ,3(three) 4G LTE phones that Verizon currently offers, to get the battery right. I wish i could say that LG got it right to, but hopefully in a future software update they might fix this. Overall the Design, Hardware, and Battery of the LG Revolution will get the job done.

Operating System(OS) And Apps

The Verizon Wireless LG Revolution is running Android 2.2 Froyo with LG’s UI(User Interface) customizations. Unfortunately is not running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, as of yet. Hopefully in a future update it will be given the newer software. However the Customizations that LG made, make the OS(Operating System) even better. For starters they give you some nice widgets, more organization in your Apps Folder, a new keyboard or swype, and much more. But we shouldn’t forget the Netflix app, this is really the best thing on the phone. Many phones can not run the Netflix app, the LG Revolution comes with it pre-installed and they give you a miniHDMI port for streaming. It may be the ultimate way to experience movies on a phone. However, one thing that could make it better is if it would stream what you are watching on Netflix to your TV. But for now we are happy to see that they included the miniHDMI port and the Netflix app. One other great thing is that you are running on Verizon’s 4G LTE Network, meaning that you can stream Netflix anywhere and get super fast speeds. So there is no more waiting for the movie/TV Show to buffer. Overall, the LG Revolution seems to be about speed. The 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, makes the OS(Operating System) and Apps run super quick. There is no waiting for the App to open or to swipe to another page. The phone is fast all around. Besides the “Netflix App” there are many other Apps that come pre-installed. Those would be, Rhapsody, RockBand, Amazon Kindle, Blockbuster, Smart Share, City ID, Polaris Office, Let’s Golf 2, and many more. It also has LG’s social media apps; Twitter/Facebook for LG. It also comes pre-loaded with Verizon’s usual apps, like VCast App Store, VZNavigator, My Verizon Mobile, and a few more. Of course you have access to the Android Market were you can find many, many more apps for your enjoyment. Overall the Operating System(OS) and Apps, are great on the Verizon Wireless LG Revolution.

Bottom Line

The Verizon Wireless LG Revolution is a great phone. It is running on the great Verizon 4G LTE Network, inside it has a fast 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, has the Netflix App pre-installed, and a miniHDMI port built right into the phone. Overall, these features plus everything else the phone has makes it a great phone. If you can live with the Battery issue and the other small issues, the LG Revolution may just be your next phone. The LG Revolution with a 2-year contract will cost you $199.99, without a contract it will cost you $559.99 . You Can Get More Info Or Buy The Verizon Wireless LG Revolution, By Clicking Here. We would like to thank “LG” for providing us with a copy of the “Verizon Wireless LG Revolution”.
