Hurricane Irene has already made landfall in the Carolinas, but we are already feeling the impact in the Northeast. For the first time in NYC recorded history they have ordered mandatory evacuations, this is effecting over 250,00 people. As of 12PM EST MTA has started the shutdown of their entire system. This includes MTA Busses, Subways, Trains; all of MTA Service is being shut down. Long Island Railroad and Metro North Railroad are also being shut down. MTA Bridges and Tunnels closures have not occurred yet but, are likely to be shut down. Click Here For More Info On The MTA Shutdown. NJTransit is also suspending service. This includes NJ TRANSIT Rail, Bus, Light Rail and Access Link services. They are suspended beginning Saturday, August 27 and all day Sunday, August 28, 2011Click Here For More Info On The NJTransit Shutdown. The Port Authority Of NY & NJ are also making preparations for the landfall of Irene.
