Sprint BlackBerry Torch 9850 - NJTechReviews

Our friends over at Sprint have sent us a BlackBerry Torch 9850 for review. It is an all touch screen BlackBerry, so there is no actual QWERTY Keyboard like on many other BlackBerry’s. Overall, it seems like a great new BlackBerry. Now let’s get started with the full review on the Sprint BlackBerry Torch 9850!

Hardware And Call Quality

The Sprint BlackBerry Torch 9850 has some great hardware inside! On the front on the phone you have your earpiece, BlackBerry Logo”, LED Flash indicator, trackpad, and the regular BlackBerry buttons. The buttons on the phone are not touch capacitive but, they are actual buttons. On the back of the phone you have your camera with LED Flash, and black-metal back. Under the back cover you have your  1,230mAh battery, MicroSD Card slot, and your sim-card/radios. It also features a 1.2GHz processor, 768MB of Ram, and Liquid Graphics. You have a 3.7-inch WVGA display, the images you get on the screen look amazing. On the top of your phone you have the lock/unlock button. On the left hand-side you have your MicroSD port. On the right side you have your 3.5mm Headphone Jack and the volume rocker. The call quality on the Sprint BlackBerry Torch 9850 is great! The calls were very clear on both our end and on the other end. There was no static or other noises, it was a very clear phone call. We had around 3(three) bars on Sprint’s Network. Overall, the Hardware on the BlackBerry Torch 9850 is great!

Operating System(OS)BlackBerry 7 And Battery Life

BlackBerry 7 OS is the latest and greatest Operating System for the BlackBerry. It was also running on the Verizon BlackBerry Bold 9930, which we recently reviewed, (See Our Verizon BlackBerry Bold 9930, By Clicking Here). It is also running on the BlackBerry Torch 9850. The major thing in BlackBerry 7 is the HTML5 web browsing, it really makes a difference when browsing the web. It is much faster than the old browser on BlackBerry’s. This is thanks to the 1.2GHz Processor, which really speeds up the phone. The battery life is also really good on the Torch 9850, you should have no issue getting through a full business day. The Virtual Keyboard is also good, it’s not the best out there but it is pretty good for standards. The buttons are more square than round, and typing on it is great. The one bad feature is the “finish words while typing” feature, most of the time it messes up what you are trying to type. Overall, BlackBerry 7 runs great on the Torch 9850.

The BlackBerry Torch 9850 has a 5 mega-pixel camera that can record 720pHD video. The images that you get with the Torch 9850 are good, it depends on what you are shooting. You have to remember that it is a camera on your phone, so as far as they go this one is pretty good. The 720pHD Video Recording quality was great!
