Last night at Samsung’s Hong Kong media event they unveiled ,with Google, the Galaxy Nexus! It is the world first smartphone running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the newest release of the Android Operating System. JK Shin ,President and Head Of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business, said this about the announcement:

 “Samsung and Google have closely collaborated to push the mobile experience forward. We are pleased to deliver the best Android smartphone experience for customers with GALAXY Nexus. We will continue to move forward with Android to provide the compelling consumer experience in mobile world.”

As you can tell they are very excited that they were able to combine with Google and deliver yet another great Android Smartphone. They also are excited to continue to move forward with android to provide the great consumer experience all of the over the mobile world. Ice Cream Sandwich is an entirely new look to Android. It has a completely new user interface with improved notifications, WiFi Hotspot, full web brewing, NFC Support, and multi-tasking. The Galaxy Nexus is the first phone to feature software navigation buttons, instead of having them on the bottom of the device. It also features the New People App which lets you browser your Family, Friends, and coworkers, you can see their latest status updates from Google + and other networks, as well as viewing there photos in high-resolution. The new camera on the Galaxy Nexus features 1080p video capture, background replacement, effects, silly faces, and panorama mode. It is connected to the could as well, meaning that our email, contacts, and all other data synced apps and files are shared across your devices. Ice Cream Sandwich also features Face Unlock which uses facial recognition to unlock your phone, Android Beam, and much more! Andy Rubin ,Senior Vice President of Mobile for Google, had to say this about the latest installment of Android:

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus features some amazing new technologies and features, on top of Android 4.0 . It features a  4.65” HD Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz Dual Core Proccessor, just 8.94mm thick, LTE or HSPA+ connectivity, 5 mega-pixel rear facing camera with Auto Focus and LED Flash, 1.3 mega-pixel front-facing camera, Accelerometer, Compass, Gyro, Light, Proximity, Barometer, 32GB of Space, and much more! Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is a great phone and we cannot wait to get our hands-on it! It will be available in November for he U.S., Europe, and Asia! Hong Kong – October 19, 2011 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a leading mobile device provider, and Google, today announced GALAXY Nexus™, the world’s first smartphone running Android™ 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest release of the Android platform. GALAXY Nexus features a 4.65” HD Super AMOLED display technology at 720p resolution and a 1.2GHz dual core processor.

The first smartphone to feature Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich

Ice Cream Sandwich brings an entirely new look and feel to Android. It has a redesigned user interface with improved multi-tasking, notifications, Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC support and a full web browsing experience. GALAXY Nexus features software navigation buttons, a first for Android smartphones. The lock screen, home screen, phone app, and everything in between has been rethought and redesigned to make Android simple, beautiful, and useful.

Ice Cream Sandwich also features a new People app, which lets you, browse friends, family, and coworkers, see their photos in high-resolution, and check their latest status updates from Google+ and other social networks. GALAXY Nexus features a redesigned camera which introduces panorama mode, 1080p video capture, zero-shutter lag, and effects like silly faces and background replacement.

GALAXY Nexus is also connected to the cloud, keeping your email, contacts, and all other datasynced across your devices. You have access to more than 300,000 apps and games from Android Market™, or, in certain countries, you can buy and read books, or rent movies and stream them instantly from your phone. In the U.S., you can also upload your music to the cloud with Music Beta by Google and listen anywhere, even when offline.

Ice Cream Sandwich introduces innovations such as Face Unlock which uses facial recognition to unlock your phone. Using NFC technology, Android Beam allows you to quickly share web pages, apps, and YouTube™ videos with your friends by simply tapping your phones together.
