T-Mobile G-Slate Review - NJTechReviews

Our friends over at LG have sent us the “T-Mobile G-Slate” for us to review. As many of you know the tablet maker is currently packed with so many different options. It is very hard to find one that is right for you. Now, let’s get started with the full review of the T-Mobile G-Slate.

Hardware

The T-Mobile G-Slate has some good hardware. Out of the box, it looks like an Android Tablet. On the front of the G-Slate you have your front-facing camera and light indicator. On the top of the side you have your power/sleep button, speaker, and a headphone jack. On the bottom you have your micro USB and HDMI ports. On the other side you have your speakers and volume rocker. On the back you have a metal strip going across that says, “With Google”. You also have 2 cameras that can record in 720pHD 3D video, led flash, and LG Logo. The screen is 8.9 inches with a resolution of 1280 x 768. The screen is very sharp and gives good quality images. The speed of the tablet is thanks to the 1GHz Tegra 2 processor. This makes it very fast and we did not have any issues with speed. The G-Slate does not have a MicroSD card, so no user expandable storage. However it gives you 32GB os internal storage, which is good. In terms of connectivity, it has WiFi, HSPA+ which is how it runs on T-Mobile’s 4G Network. Overall, the hardware in the T-Mobile G-Slate is pretty good.

Operating System

The T-Mobile G-Slate is running Android 3.0 Honeycomb. It is completely a stock version, no special user interface from LG is on this tablet. This will make some people happy and other may be very sad. It does have some good apps pre-loaded like, Need For Speed Shift, all of the Google Apps, T-Mobile TV, 3D Camcorder, 3D Player, Double Twist, Quick Office, and EA Games. So the G-Slate is pretty much stock Android. One thing to point out is that the display is not glasses free 3D, so included with the G-Slate are your 3D Red and Blue Glasses. This is not the best feature about the G-Slate. Android 3.0 runs smoothly on the G-Slate and will work for most people. Overall, the G-Slate is mainly Stock Android.

Bottom Line

The T-Mobile G-Slate is a good tablet. While there are a few bad thing about it, the average consumer can look past them. It has a nice 8.9 inch display, that will give you good images. Thank’s to it 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, it will not slow you down. And if you are looking for the clean Android Experience the G-Slate will please you. You can get the T-Mobile G-Slate made by LG for as low as $299 with a plan. I would recommend the G-Slate to a customer who is already on T-Mobile and is okay with stock android experience. For More Info On The T-Moible G-Slate By LG, Please Click Here. We would like to thank LG for providing us with a copy of the “T-Mobile G-Slate By LG”.
