Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Review Image 1 - NJTechReviews

Our friends over at Samsung have sent us the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus for us to review. Samsung believes that one tablet does not fit all and they have soon us that. They currently have 3(three) tablets on the market the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, and the newest member to the family Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. The tablet market is crowded but, Samsung’s tablets have always stood out.  Does the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus continue on this path?

Hardware and Design

Samsung is known for building high quality products. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is not different. The design of the Galaxy tab 7.0 Plus is very light and portable. It is the thinnest 7 inch tablet I have ever seen. It’s thickness is only 0.39 inches. When holding it in portrait mode on the top you have the headphone jack and mic. The power/sleep button, volume rocker, and micro USB port are on the left hand side. On the bottom you have the dock port and 2 speakers. Micro SD port is found on the right hand side. Above the screen you have the earpiece/speaker and a front facing 2 mega-pixel camera. Under the screen is just the Samsung Logo. Keep in mind that in Android 3.2 Honeycomb all of the buttons are built into the operating system. The back is where you will find the other camera. It is rear facing 3 mega-pixel camera with LED Flash. You also have some more Samsung branding on the back. The color of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is metallic grey, this also the color for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 . Overall, the design of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is great. Now we move onto the hardware. Samsung is known for having great screens, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus has an amazing screen as expected. It has a 7 inch WSVGA PLS LCD Display with a resolution of 1024 X 600. The screen is great and the colors on it are extremely vibrant. It may be the best feature of the device. In terms of speed it has a 1GHz Dual Core Samsung Exynos Processor. It is very fast and there is no delay at all. It definitely adds to the great experience of using the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus! Now, let’s take a space to store all of your data, it comes in either a 16GB or 32GB size. This is the internal memory, keep in mind that there is a micro SD card that can hold up to a 32GB micro SD card. It has plenty of space and the option to expand makes it even better. The hardware in the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, is one of the best I have seen out of many of the 7 inch tablets that i have reviewed.

Operating System

Now the last Samsung Galaxy Tab that was 7 inches was running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Most of the 10 inch tablets or bigger tablets are running Android 3.2 Honeycomb. Well, Honeycomb has made its way to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and several other new 7 inch tablets. At first it was strange to see it on a 7 inch screen, but after a couple of minutes I realized it was the perfect match. All of the buttons are built into the operating system, so the 4(four) classic Android buttons are no where to be found. It makes the design of the tablet much cleaner looking. Android 3.2 Honerycomb is paired with what maybe the best User Interface for a tablet on the market. And that is Samsung Touch Wiz and you can definitely see it in full effect on the 7.0 Plus Tab. For starters, you get all of Samsung’s great widgets and the Samsung Hubs. You have the weather widget which is a beautiful way to see your weather on the home screen. On the 7.0 Plus Tab you have Media Hub and Social Hub. Media Hub is where you can buy or rent new movies or TV shows. It is a great app and comes in very handy. Social Hub is where all of your social networks come into one easy and simple to use app. It works as a widget and as a full-blown application. In terms of pre-loaded app, you get quite a few good ones. Some of them are All Share, Amazon Kindle, Google App Suite, eBook, Flash Player, Gmail, Media Hub, Memo, Moviefone, Music, Music Player, My Files, Next Issue, Pen Memo, Photo Editor, Polaris Office, Pulse, Samsung Apps, Peel;Smart Remote, Social Hub, Task Manager, and more. I would not consider these apps to be bloatware, they all come in very handy and make your experience with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus much better. Samsung really did an amazing job on the Operating System and software found in the 7.0 Plus Tab. Their User Interface makes it much easier to use and even gives the user more things to do. The apps that they choose to include compliment the many uses of a 7 inch tablet, including those on the device with hardware that can handle it, help make the user experience better.
