Verizon HTC Rezound Review Image 1 - NJTechReviews

Our friends over at Verizon have sent us the HTC Rezound for us to review. It is the first phone in the US to have a 720p True HD Display. It is also running on Verizon’s insanely fast 4G LTE Network. It is also there first phone in the US to have there Beats Auido partnership features. Now, let’s get started with the full review of the Verizon HTC Rezound!

Display

As we said before the Verizon HTC Rezound is the first phone in the US to have a 720p True HD Display. They did beat the LG Nitro HD to market. The display on the Rezound is really good. The colors so up great on it. It has a resolution of 1280 X 720 on a 4.3 inch screen. It also has 342ppi, this is a mind boggling number. When you are streaming a video over Verizon’s 4G LTE Network the quality is amazing on the Rezound. It is one of the best screens i have seen on the market, and at certain times it may even be better than the LG Nitro HD. It is definitely one of the best features of the phone and it is for a good reason. If you haven’t seen the screen yet, go out to your local Verizon store and take  a look at it!

Hardware

The Verizon HTC Rezound does have other features besides it’s amazing 720p True HD Display. For starters this phone has speed it has a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8660 Processor and 1GB of RAM. Plus the speeds of Verizon’s 4G LTE Network. When you put all of these together you get an amazing experience. For cameras it has a 8 mega-pixel back camera and a 2 mega-pixel front facing camera. In terms of space to hold your stuff you get 16GB on a micro SD card and 10GB of internal space. You will have plenty of space to hold all of your data. Now, keep in mind that Verizon’s first 4G LTE Smartphone was the HTC Thunderbolt. This is HTC’s second Verizon 4G LTE Phone and it is pretty good. You Can See Our Review Of The Verizon HTC Thunderbolt, By Clicking Here. Since then there are no a bunch of different Verizon 4G LTE Smartphones on the market. HTC and Beats By Dre have partnered, so with the HTC Rezound you get a free pair of in-ear Beats headphones. They are a $100 value and are included in the box. Most smartphones don’t even come with headphones any more, so we are very lucky that they are giving these out with them. If you take the back cover of the device off you will find that the phone has a Verizon Red Paint Job, including the battery. The phone looks like the Droid Incredible 2, and it has a nice design to it. Under the back cover you will find the Verizon 4G LTE SIM Card, 16GG micro SD card, and the battery. On the actual back cover you have the Verizon, 4G LTE, HTC, and Beats logos. On the top of the device you have the standard headphone jack and power/sleep button. Your volume rocker can be found on the right hand side. While you micro USB port is found on the left hand side. Above the screen you have the earpiece, Verizon logo, and 2 mega-pixel front facing camera. Under the screen you can find the HTC logo and the 4 android buttons which are the home, menu, back and search. Keep in mind that the earpiece and the android buttons are all in Verizon Red. Besides that the phone’s main color is black. The colors go very nice together. The HTC Rezound is nowhere near as thin as the Verizon Droid RAZR. It comes in at 7.1 millimeters at it’s thickest point. Overall, the Verizon HTC Rezounds has some amazing hardware in it.

Operating System

The Verizon HTC Rezound is running Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with HTC Sense. No, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich yet but, it will hopefully be coming soon. I personally like and think HTC Sense is one of the best User Interfaces on the market. For starters it gives you the great widgets and more customization to the operating system. It also running HTC Sense 3.5, it is only the 2nd device in the US to be running it. The first to run HTC Sense 3.5 was the Verizon HTC Rhyme. One big feature about Sense 3.5 is HTC’s deal with Dropbox to offer all users 5GB of Free Cloud Storage. HTC Sense 3.5 is also much faster than the previous versions, this is always good to hear. The Verizon HTC Rezound does come with a good amount of pre-loaded apps. They are Amazon Kindle, Backup Assistant, Blockbuster, Downloads, Facebook, Footprints, Friend Stream, Google App Suite, Hot Pursuit, Let’s Golf 2, Mobile Hotspot, Mobile IM, Music, My Verizon Mobile, NFL Mobile, Polaris Office, Scan, Slacker Radio, Setup, Talk, Task Manager, Tasks, VCast Music, VCast Videos, Video-surf, VZ Navigator, Weather, And More. Now, interns of the widgets you have HTC’s famous clock and weather widget. This is the one with the awesome graphics that so you the weather. You also have Friend Stream which combines all of your Social Networks into one easy to use Widget and App. Overall, the software on the HTC Rezound is superb.
