Sling TV Has Launched On The Xbox One; Xbox Live Users Get One Month Of The Service For Free

Earlier this year, Sling TV came out as the first real option for those looking to drop cable and become cord-cutters, and it is a very compelling option. Well today, you have another way to watch the streaming service, Sling TV has just launched on the Xbox One. The Xbox One is joining many other devices like the Fire TV and Roku Players. The Sling TV application can be installed via the Xbox One Apps Store.

The Sling TV application features voice control via the Kinect sensor, it also includes gesture control as well. If you are currently an Xbox Live subscriber, you can get a month of the service for free just by downloading the application. Plus, the first five thousand customers who purchase an Xbox One in a Microsoft retail store or at MicrosoftStore.com between March 17, 2015 and March 22, 2015 will receive three months of the service for free. ENGLEWOOD, Colo., March 17, 2015 – Today Sling TV released its app for Xbox One, the first gaming console to support the live, over-the-top TV service. Xbox One joins a constellation of other devices that support Sling TV, including Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick; current-generation Roku players and Roku TV models; Android and iOS devices; and Macs and PCs.

“Sling TV and Xbox are a natural pairing; two out of three millennials think of themselves as gamers, while nearly nine out of 10 watch live sports on TV,” said Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV. “Today’s Xbox One customers have been some of the most passionate about Sling TV since the beginning, and now we’re pleased to bring them live TV on their favorite gaming console.”

The companies launched two exclusive limited-time offers for new Sling TV customers. Current Xbox Live members who have an Xbox One will receive one month of Sling TV free, after downloading the Sling TV app from the Xbox One Apps Store, courtesy of Microsoft.  Additionally, the first five thousand customers who purchase an Xbox One in a Microsoft retail store or at MicrosoftStore.com between March 17, 2015 and March 22, 2015 will receive three free months of Sling TV service.

Sling TV on Xbox One allows users to Pin the app to their Home, use Kinect voice or gesture controls for Xbox One, and run multiple activities simultaneously by using Xbox One’s Snap feature. Current Sling TV customers can add the app to their Xbox One consoles by downloading Sling TV from the Xbox One Apps Store and signing in with their Sling TV username and password. Sling TV’s “Best of Live TV” $20 core package delivers ESPN, ESPN2, AMC, TNT, TBS, Food Network, HGTV, Travel Channel, IFC, El Rey, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, ABC Family, Disney Channel, CNN and Galavision, with A&E, HISTORY, H2 and Lifetime coming soon. This package additionally features access to WatchESPN, including ESPN3 and an array of Video-On-Demand entertainment. Customers can choose to tailor their entertainment experience with optional “Sports Extra,” “Hollywood Extra,” “Kids Extra,” “Lifestyle Extra” and “World News Extra” add-on packs, each priced at $5 per month. In addition to live channels and VOD entertainment, Sling TV customers have access to content from Maker Studios.
