Lenovo is having their first annual Tech World conference in Beijing this week and they have several new products to unveil. They are entering the media casting market, with the just announced Lenovo Cast. Essentially, it is a wireless hub that will allow you to send content from your personal device, like a smartphone, to your television. Lenovo Cast is landing this August for $49 and will be competing against devices like the Apple TV, Google Chromecast, and the Fire TV Stick from Amazon.

The Cast has a leg up when it comes to wireless connectivity thanks too dual frequency WiFi with synchronized 2.4G and 5G working modes. The distance from where your device has to be can go through two walls and up to 20 meters, after all this it can still connect to cast the media. You can cast from any DLNA or Miracast device, along with Android 4.3 devices or newer, iOS devices, and Windows 8.1 computing devices.

The Lenovo Cast connects to a television via HDMI port and gets power via USB. The device itself is just 15 millimeters thick and weighs in at just 50 grams. In the box you will get a USB cable, an HDMI cable, and bracket that will allow you to mount the device on the back of a television. Lenovo Cast will be landing in August with a worldwide launch and will cost just $49.
