Google enters the Internet of Things with Project Brillo; An underlying operating system

Google is officially entering the Internet of Things, with Project Brillo. It is essentially an underlying operating system for the smart home and smart world, plus it is based off of Android. Brillo is designed to not take up much space, but still provides the necessary power.

Weave will be how all of the devices communicate with each other, it will go from the Brillo Device, to the Cloud, and to the Phone. Weave can work with Brillo or on top of an existing smart home device. In terms of the user experience, it will be built into Android.

Brillo and Weave will be launching later this year, with Brillo coming in Quarter 3 and Weave in Quarter 4.
