Playtime is now 110% better, with the announcement of Playmation from Disney. Playmation combines physical play with wearable technology, and you could say it is powered by your children’s or even your imagination. It will put you into the heart of the stories that Disney tells, and Playmation will let you join the world of The Avengers at first, and eventually Star Wars and Frozen.

Playmation has some similarities with Disney Infinity, but it does seem more of a unique pair of technology with playtime, in that you will be up in moving while playing. For instance, with The Avengers starter kit you receive an Iron Man wearable that will go on your arm and enable to you too shoot and block, along with looking like the superhero. The arm piece itself will feature connectivity, a speaker for sound, and several vibration motors; all aiming to make it a more realistic to fantasy experience.

Marvel’s Avengers will be the first set or starter kit for Playmation and will be landing in October 2014, specifically 10/4. The starter kit will be coming with five items, those include one piece of Avenger Gear, two Power Activators and two Smart Figures. The piece of Avenger Gear will be Iron Man’s repulsor, the two smart figures will be Captain America, a superhero, and Iron Skull, a super villain. JARVIS, the operating system that powers Iron Man, will be guiding you through the tutorial and then the missions, it will all start once you strap on the gear. The smart figures can click into the Power Activators and when you shoot at them, they will eventually pop off showing that you have beaten the mission. You will get several of missions out of the box, but if you use the AvengersNet app, the world grows.

This new application will be available at launch for iOS devices, with a launch on Android coming soon after. You will register your gear within the application, from there you can track progress, explore new locations, get new characters, and of course get new missions. On launch you will be able to join Avengers Super Heroes like Black Widow, Falcon and more as they battle or you can fight Marvel Super Villains including Ultron, Iron Skull, and Loki. How you fight depends on the mission, but it usually involves running, jumping, dodging, ducking, and more.

Disney will be offering several add-ons to the Playmation starter kit as well. Launching in October along with the official launch of the starter kit, will be the Prowler Bot for $39.99. This robot is part of Ultron’s army and features 360 degree movement, plus it adds a new level to the gameplay and unlocks new missions. Hero Smart Figures will be coming as well, each one will be sold separately for $14.99, and there are four types. You can get a Tanker, a Striker, a Medic, and a Blaster. Iron Man, Hulk, Hulkbuster, Black Widow, Falcon, Captain America will be landing on October 4th. Since they are offering Hero Smart Figures, Villain Smart Figures are coming as well for $14.99 each. Coming on October, you can get Ultron Bot, M.O.D.O.K. and Iron Skull.

The one bad thing about Playmation, would be that it won’t be launching until this fall, but the wait time until launch might mean new features being announced. Playmation Marvel’s Avengers Starter Pack will be launching in October of 2015 with an estimated retail price of $119.99. Starting July 7th, you will be able to pre-order the starter pack from several outlets, including select Disney Store locations and DisneyStore.com.
