Yesterday, HTC announced a few new affordable smartphones, and one of those devices will be making its way to AT&T. They have announced that the Desire 626 will be added to their lineup. While AT&T has only released a small statement, HTC has also released features and specifications for the device.

The goal with these new line of affordable smartphones, is to deliver a premium experience no matter the cost. The Desire 626 will be come in several color options and have seamless body build. The 626 features a 5-inch 720pHD display, which will be showcasing Android 5.1 Lollipop with HTC Sense 7. It will be running on AT&T’s 4G LTE network and also has connectivity for  802.11 b/g/n WiFI, NFC, and Bluetooth 4.1.

Powering the Android experience will be a 1.1GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor with 1.5GB of RAM. You will get 16GB of internal storage, but you can expand this via a micro SD card slot. You should be able to stretch the battery to last all day via a 2000mAh battery inside. There will be an 8 megapixel camera on the back along with an LED flash and it can record video in up to 720pHD. While on the front you will find a 5 megapixel lens.

Overall, the Desire 626 by HTC seems like a low to mid range device, and is not as premium as the HTC One M9. But it does have some solid features, although the processor is not as premium as I was expecting. All in all it should give AT&T customers more option, especially if they are looking for a low to mid range smartphone. In the coming weeks, AT&T should be sharing pricing and availability information for the HTC Desire 626.

Statement

AT&T is excited to bring the HTC Desire 626 smartphone to our customers. We’ll share more details on pricing and availability in the coming weeks.
