Big news from Nickelodeon sure to satisfy every ’90s kid; “The Splat”

Helloooo all ’90s kids! Boy do we have news for you. Remember all of your favorite childhood shows like Hey ArnoldRugrats, and Keenan & Kel? Remember the disappointment when they went off air? Fret no more friends! Nickelodeon has recently announced the launch of “The Splat” starting in early October.

“The Splat” is a new program available as a television and social media presence while also including a web site encompassing our favorite Nickelodeon content from the ’90s and beyond, and an emoji keyboard for all of our texting/snap-chatting/posting needs. “The Splat” will include classic Nick stunts such as Nick or Treat, U-Pick and Super Toy Run as well as specific ’90s programs such as Doo-wop Dinosaurs and the Opera Lady. “The Splat” will air on TeenNick from 10 p.m. – 6 a.m (ET/PT) on Monday, October 5, essentially fulfilling your dreams.

When interviewed about “The Splat,” Cyma Zarghami, President of Viacom Kids and Family Group, said, “We have been listening closely to our first generation of Nick kids that are craving the great characters and shows they grew up with watching Nickelodeon in the ‘90s. We designed ‘The Splat’ with fans and their requests in mind, which means we’re bringing together these beloved series and a high level of digital engagement to give fans a retro media experience they can’t get anywhere else.”

“The Splat” will specifically consist of 4 aspects, including the TV block, the website, emoji keyboard, and the social media community. The TV block will include an 8 hour lineup airing daily on TeenNick from 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. Shows that will be showcased on the TV lineups will include All That, Angry Beavers, Are You Afraid of the Dark, CatDogClarissa Explains It All, Hey Arnold!, Hey Dude, Kenan & Kel, Ren & Stimpy, Legends of the Hidden TempleRocko’s Modern Life, Rugrats, Salute Your Shorts and The Wild Thornberrys, as well as other series. At the beginning of the launch, “The Splat” will draw fans in by introducing themed weeks and publicity stunts. The week of October 5 will be equipped with the first 2 episodes of animated and live-action game shows. On the week of October 12, Reptar featured Rugrats episodes will air. “Hey Arnold! Live from the Stoop” will air the week of October 19. Finally, “Nick or Treat” will be featured during the week of October 26th, encompassing a call-in event where callers are allowed 40 seconds to choose from 6 doors while collecting tricks and treats as well as spooky animation episodes.

The website, TheSplat.com, will be run mostly from fan conversations and social trends stemming from all social media outlets. The long-awaited emoji keyboard will include over 30 classic Nickelodeon emoticons, stickers and GIFs based on Ren & Stimpy, Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, Rocko’s Modern Life and more.  Fans will be able to paste their favorite characters into texts, posts, and emails. In addition, new content will be updated based on seasonal interest and trending topics. Which brings us to our last medium for “The Splat.” Nickelodeon is fully prepared to launch a prominent social media presence about their new announcement on well-known sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumbler, Vine and YouTube.

With the recent launch and success of the television program “The ’90s Are All That,” Nickelodeon has noticed the demand for the resurfacing of shows originally aired in the 1990s. The discussion started on social media platforms and became trending topics. With Nickelodeon on its 36th year in entertainment, they have become the number 1 television network for children. We can’t wait to see what our friends at Nickelodeon have planned with “The Splat” and look forward to the new program and everything Nick has to offer.
