Tim Cook has announced that the new Apple TV will be available next week

While on stage at WSJD Live, Tim Cook the CEO of Apple has just announced that the new Apple will be available next week. The new Apple TV was announced in September along with the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and the iPad Pro. The device was originally announced with a launch date of the end of October. Tim Cook also noted that the device will be available for order on Monday and will begin shipping later that week.

The new Apple TV will be coming in two sizes and therefore two price points. You can grab a 32GB model for $149.99 and the 64GB model for $199.99. The new Apple TV brings the biggest change to Apple’s hobby since the original. For starters its bring Siri and a unified search to the platform. Meaning that you can ask Siri to find you kid movies and it will suggest titles from the iTunes store, Netflix, Hulu, and other apps.

Applications as a whole are a big deal on the new Apple TV as well. For starters there is now an SDK and developers can build applications for the TV. There will be an MLB app coming out, that will enhance your viewing experience. Plus, you can game on the Apple TV now and you the new remote will enhance the experience.

Tim Cook noted on stage that the new Apple TV is “the foundation of the future” and that the current TV system is old and terrible. The new Apple TV is betting big on applications and streaming, it will be interesting to see how many applications will be available at launch.
