Verizon Wireless has the fastest and most reliable network in the country, in fact I have called their 4G LTE network lightning fast. Through my testing I have seen speeds upwards of 60Mbps on the upload and the download, this beats out many home internet connections. And for Super Bowl 50, Verizon stepped up their game and added more cell sites to make sure the network would hold strong. Plus, the additions of the new cell sites and increased capacities, is also paving the way for 5G. Verizon has just put out some official stats from the game last night, and it is safe to say that the Verizon network was quite reliable and still had some speed.

In the Bay-Area alone, Verizon has invested over $70 million to make sure they were ready for the Super Bowl. Verizon is calling Super Bowl 50 the most connected Super Bowl ever with over 68TB(terabytes) of data being used. This is not just at the game, but in and around the city, and keep in mind there were festivities going on the entire week. In fact 68TB(terabytes) of data is equivalent to around 45 million social media posts, plus during the game alone 7TB(terabytes) of data were used. This beats out the 4.1TB (terabytes) used in Phoenix and the 1.9TB(terabytes) used in New Jersey.

In Levi’s Stadium on Super Bowl Sunday there were over 35,000 connected devices and the most popular application being used was Facebook. If you had seats in the lower bowl of the arena you can could expect a lightning fast speed of 120Mbps on the download and if you were tailgating you got around 60Mbps.

And if you were checking out social media during the game, you could see that AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon were battling it out to see who reigned supreme during the game. It seems that Verizon has come out on top with some of the fastest speeds and a very reliable network, with an absolute ton of data being used throughout the game. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top next year with Super Bowl 51. One thing to keep in mind is that Verizon has been working on the network in Houston for more than a year.
