I don’t think anybody ever thought the day would come, but alas it is approaching—American Idol’s final episode will air on Thursday, April 7th. However, fans have many treats in store. After running for 15 seasons, American Idol will not leave viewers unsatisfied.

There will be a three-night grand finale this week, which kicks off tonight, Tuesday, April 5th at 8 pm with a 90 special entitled American Idol: American Dream. This special will feature longtime host Ryan Seacrest in addition to current and former hosts, and past Idol winners and contestants who will share their American Idol stories and shed light on just how much this show meant to them. But that’s not all! Ryan Seacrest and the original Idol judges—Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson will share behind-the-scenes insider stories that have never been revealed before.

After this exclusive special airs, night one of the Grand Finale airs on Wednesday, April 6th at 8 pm EST in which America will take part in the last ever American Idol vote as the remaining contestants sing their hearts out live from the Dolby Theater. Both Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are set to perform on the show one last time. Finally, on Thursday, April 7th at 8 pm EST, the goodbyes continue. Idol will bid farewell to the contestants and to the millions of fans who have been watching over the years before the final American Idol is crowned. There are sure to be several surprise guests over the course of the three nights. While it is sure to be emotional, it is certainly a special tribute to the show that created some of today’s biggest artists. This iconic show that shaped television will not soon be forgotten.
