IFA 2016 is approaching quickly, and Samsung has sent out invites for their press event. Samsung will be taking the stage in Berlin on August 31 at 6:30 PM CEST which is around 12:30 PM on September 1st here in the United States. The invite was simple with only one graphic–two watch hands.
It appears that Samsung will be announcing its next iteration of the Gear smartwatch, the Gear S3. Just last year the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic were unveiled. Both of these devices feature a unique rotating control around the watch face. So while it was similar to the Digital Crown on the Apple Watch, it certainly differentiated itself.
The Gear S3 is slated to get a solid upgrade, but not a full redesign. You can expect better battery life and some faster internals. Along with some new sensors that should give the smart watch more features.
The focus for Samsung’s IFA event will be on wearables and comes just a few weeks after the Galaxy Note 7 debut.
