Back in 2014, I reviewed the original Kevo– A unique smart lock that allowed for unlocking with a touch. Now two years later the second generation Kevo has been announced and is releasing in a few short days on August 30.

The second generation Kevo from Kwikset is priced at $229 and brings along all the features from the original. It still has the touch-to-open feature that made the Kevo so well known. Using Bluetooth connectivity from a smartphone or fob to authenticate with the lock, from a certain distance.

This time around Kevo will be available in Satin Nickel, Venetian Bronze, and Polished Brass– Plus it has a slimmer design. Even better setup will be easier as the application now has auto calibration. The lock will also integrate with several smart home systems, or it can be used by itself.

Kwikset’s second generation Kevo releases on August 30 for $229 and will be available from Amazon.com, The Home Depot, and several other retailers. While the price is still high, it is only $10 more than the original Kevo.
