After a particularly rough day for Samsung, with many US carrier putting a sales halt on the device, Yonhap News Agency is now reporting that Samsung is stopping the production of Galaxy Note7’s for now.

We reached out to Samsung earlier today and a Samsung spokesperson stated:

“We recognize that a carrier partner has stopped sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 in response to reports of heat damage issues, and we respect their decision. We are working diligently with authorities and third party experts and will share findings when we have completed the investigation. Even though there are a limited number of reports, we want to reassure customers that we are taking every report seriously. If we determine a product safety issue exists, Samsung will take immediate steps approved by the CPSC to resolve the situation.”

It is important to note, while Samsung stated they are working to investigate this issue, they made no mention of stopping production. When we asked further about the possibility of another full recall, Samsung declined to respond.

It appears, though, if this report from Yonhap News Agency is accurate, that production has been halted. Consumer Saftey Regulators from South Korea, United States, and China have all started investigations. This could be the main reason as to why the halt in production has occurred.
