Galaxy Note 7Samsung is coming off a rough weekend, and the technology giant is finally doing something correct. Today, Samsung announced that they had stopped sales of the Galaxy Note7 on a global level. Plus while they didn’t say “recall,” they are saying all customers need to return the device for a refund or to exchange it for another smartphone. And no, you no longer exchange it for a replacement Galaxy Note7, as they are not safe and have been exploding.

A Samsung spokesperson told us:

“We are working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to investigate the recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note7. Because consumers’ safety remains our top priority, Samsung will ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 while the investigation is taking place. We remain committed to working diligently with the CPSC, carriers and our retail partners to take all necessary steps to resolve the situation. Consumers with an original Galaxy Note7 or replacement Galaxy Note7 should power down and take advantage of the remedies available, including a refund at their place of purchase. For more information, consumers should visit samsung.com/us/note7recall or contact 1-844-365-6197.”

It seems that Samsung finally realizes the scale of the issue and are no longer going to be covering up discussing devices that are defective. Samsung decisions to stop selling the device comes after AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon in the United States stopped selling the Note7. Samsung has also updated their Note7 recall website and have established a hotline for customers to call.
