sling-tv-dvrSling TV has long offered a video on demand service, but the cord cutting originator has not yet had the ability to record TV shows. Some channels allowed for live TV pause, rewind, and fast forward. But this is changing today, as Sling TV unveiled a DVR feature.

This is not coming to all customers at first– Roku customers will have first dibs via a limited beta launching next month, December. The beta period will allow for up to 100’s hours of recording to be stored. There will not be a 28-day restriction like a traditional DVR, plus Sling will allow you to rewind, pause, and fast forward through content.

In the future after the beta period, customers will be able to upgrade the package for more storage. And like with past beta features, Sling TV will add more features based on customer feedback.

Sling TV is limiting the first beta period to Roku devices, but DVR functionality will expand to other devices in the coming months. Customers on the platform who use it with a Roku can request an invitation to the beta at www.sling.com/dvr.

NJTechReviews expects to get some hands-on time with the new DVR feature soon and will report back with our first impressions.
