Verizon is bringing FiOS to Boston

Today Verizon announced that they are beginning to roll out FiOS to Boston, MA. Like rollouts in the past, this is a long process, as they have to bring the fiber-optic line to each of the regions. However, it is important to note that previous rollouts have not gone all that smoothly, especially with NYC. As the process can be delayed and leads to a backlog of installation requests– I am hopeful that Verizon has fixed this with this rollout.

For Boston, customers in Dorchester, Roslindale and West Roxbury will be the first to get the service. All of Boston and select surrounding cities should have the option to choose FiOS within six years. Verizon hopes to bring FiOS to 25,000 customers by the end of the December.

To make this launch happen, just eight months after the announcement, Verizon has been working with the city of Boston. And while they say that customers are the winners, talks are still on-going as they continue to draft out the legal documents necessary to continue the expansion.

Customers in Boston can check to see if they are eligible for FiOS by visiting www.verizon.com/BostonFios. Verizon is offering TV, Phone, and Internet at launch in a variety of packages.
