When Apple unveiled the MacBook back in 2015, it had only one USB-C port. Moreover, when they updated it still only had a USB-C port. However, when the new MacBook Pros were announced, they got four USB-C ports. All of these use a new USB-C charging cabled that does not feature a MagSafe Power Adapter. To combat this issue Griffin revealed the BreakSafe Magnetic Power cable which worked for the smaller MacBook, but they are expanding this series at CES 2017.

First and foremost for those who have the 2016 MacBook Pros, Griffin has announced the BreakSafe Hi-Power Magnetic USB-C Breakaway Cable which can handle up to 100-watts. This means it can charge the 13-inch and 15-inch 2016 MacBook Pros. This cable will cost just $29.99 when it lands in Quarter 2 of 2017. However, I am hoping that Griffin canĀ get this cable out sooner.

Griffin is expanding the BreakSafe technology from just USB-C devices with the BreakSafe Magnetic USB Breakaway Adapter. This means the safety and usability of the BreakSafe cable will now work with almost any USB-A device. The BreakSafe Magnetic USB Breakaway Adapter will land Quarter 1 of 2017 for $19.99.

Lastly, we have the BreakSafe Car Charger and BreakSafe Wall Charger. Each of them pushes out 15-watts of power, which will be enough to charge a phone or tablet. Here you plug the USB-A end of any charger into the BreakSafe module which goes into the outlet. From there you can unplug knowing that you will not rip it out of the wall or the car. Both of these will cost $39.99 and will be available at some point in Quarter 2 of 2017.
