Griffin is entering another new market at CES 2017; the first was Smart Home and this time it is the Bluetooth Speaker market. Earlier this summer Incipio, which owns audio company Braven, acquired Griffin. It seems that this move is taking advantage of Braven’s experience with speakers. As today Griffin introduced the Survivor SRV-1 and Survivor SRV-2.

The Survivor SRV-1 pairs a Bluetooth Speaker with a durable build and a rechargeable battery. The SRV-1 is a compact but rugged Bluetooth Speaker that comes with an Action Mount that works with GoPro’s in the box. It packs a 2,200mAh rechargeable battery that will give you 12 hours of play time, plus it can be used to charge your smartphone. The Survivor SRV-1 will cost $99 and should land in Quarter 2 of this year.

The Survivor SRV-2 is the flagship model of the first entry into the Bluetooth Speaker market by Griffin. It is a rop-proof, IPX7 rated waterproof speaker with a 5,200mAh rechargeable battery inside. It has two modes for sound, that you can choose between– indoor and outdoor. Griffin’s Survivor SRV-2 will cost $199 and lands in Quarter 2 of 2017.

Both the SRV-1 and SRV-2 speakers are engineered by BRAVEN, so I am expecting the audio quality to be pretty darn good. They also offer handsfree microphone so you can use the speakers to take phone calls on speaker.
