Honeywell is expanding its line of Lyric smart home and connected home products. Today at CES 2017 they unveiled the Lyric C1 and C2 Wi-Fi Indoor Cameras, their first entry in WiFi video monitoring. They will integrate directly into the Lyric application and will let you easily monitor your home or apartment.

Installation is meant to be simple and is most certainly DIY. These are wired cameras, unlike some other monitoring solutions that have gone with rechargeable batteries. I tend to agree with choosing hardwired as it always has power. The C1 Camera captures HD, 30fps video with a 135-degree viewing angle, while the C2 camera does it at Full HD 30fps and has a 138-degree viewing angle. Besides for this small upgrade in recording quality, the camera are the same.

Both the C1 and C2 feature a built-in speaker and microphone, which can let you two-way talk as Honeywell is calling it. You could use this to say hi to a family member or to get a dog off of a couch. Each C1 and C2 comes with an 8GB SD card that can be used for recording if WiFi goes down. You also get a day of cloud storage of recordings for free, but Honeywell will offer paid 7 and 30 days plans. They also feature detection zones show you can get a push notification if they pick something up– But it will not be a notification saying the fan moved as they feature smart recording technologies.

The footage captured on the C1 and C2 has 256-bit end-to-end encryption for added security. You can even setup the C1 and C2 to be professional monitored through Honeywell’s Lyric Security offering.

Honeywell plans to launch the Lyric C1 and C2 Wi-Fi Indoor Cameras within the first three months of 2017 with pricing coming closer to their availability.
