While LG chose to unveil a majority of its 2017 products yesterday at is Press Conference, they are not done yet. Today, LG announced a Dolby Vision Capable 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Player. This means that this player can handle high-dynamic-range Blu-Ray discs which will look great on the new incredibly OLED W TV.

One thing to note is that the UP970 Ultra HD Blu-ray will not come out of the box with this Dolby Vision support. But it will be getting a software update that delivers this feature later this year. It will support the generic HDR format out of the box which gives you access to the latest HDR content.

Ultra HD Blu-Ray discs with Dolby Vision enabled should start rolling out early this year, and this player will be one of the first to handle them. This player has two HDMI ports, an HDMI 2.0a port for Ultra HD video output, an HDMI 1.4 for audio output, and a Gigabit Ethernet port. Wireless connectivity is built-in but for streaming large 4K downloads you may want a physical line. This player supports 10-bit color and Rec. ITU-R BT.2020 color gamut, and high-efficiency video coding.

LG’s UP970 Dolby Vision Capable 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Player will be launching this year.
