In light of the recent changes in immigration law, several companies have issued statements in regards to the safety and security of their employees who are not yet United States citizens. One of the strongest of these was sent via email by Brad Smith of Microsoft to all employees, and which CEO Satya Nadella shared in this LinkedIn post yesterday.

This new law, which was signed by Donald Trump, would ban immigration from various Middle Eastern countries. There is also heightened concerns that those not officially registered as citizens of the United States will be deported. As of now the ban is scheduled to last for 90 days but can be extended. Travel is not restricted for United States residents with green cards.

Nadella writes “As an immigrant and as a CEO, I’ve both experienced and seen the positive impact that immigration has on our company, for the country, and for the world. We will continue to advocate on this important topic”, a bold and supportive statement from one of the most influential businesses in the world of technology.

Smith, in his email, states that they are committed to helping those who may be affected by the new law. Smith goes on to say that they have already reached out to many of the people that would be affected. He continues to say that if a recipient or their family is affected and hasn’t received any notice from Microsoft, they should email the “CELA U.S. Immigration Team”.
