MusiCares is an excellent organization that shows the power of music, but they don’t just pick one prominent artist to honor every year. Throughout the year they hold contests and encourage students to create music, that matters. Renee Levine, a local teen from NJ, took second place in MusiCares “Teens Make Music” contest. The competition tasked teens ages 14-18 to create a song that promotes a healthy lifestyle.

MusiCares partnered with the GRAMMY Foundation and Drugfree.org to run the contest. As a second place winner, Renee, beat out many other entries and won herself a trip to LA for a backstage experience at the awards show. You can listen to her winning track “Paralyzed” below.
