AT D23 EXPO 2017, DISNEY PARKS CHAIRMAN BOB CHAPEK ANNOUNCES NEW STAR WARS-THEMED HOTEL FOR WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT — During D23 Expo 2017, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek announced plans to create the most experiential concept ever in an immersive Star Wars-themed hotel at Walt Disney World Resort. Dedicated entirely to the galaxy of Star Wars, it will be a one-of-a-kind experience where a luxury resort meets a multi-day adventure in a galaxy far, far away.

The 2017 D23 Expo has brought with a ton of news, including a bunch related to Star Wars. It has been a galaxy filled weekend, to say the least, and there is still more news. For instance, the new Star Wars-themed lands will be called Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. And Walt Disney World Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will have an incredibly immersive Star Wars-themed hotel; it’s okay if your jaw drops here.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek made the announcement to 7,000 fans on hand at the 2017 D23 Expo. This latest round of Star Wars news comes just a few hours after we got a behind the scenes look at Star Wars: The Last Jedi. This Star Wars-themed hotel will only be at Walt Disney World in Florida as of now and will take be in the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge portion of the park. It will live somewhere in between the two core attractions of the Millennium Falcon and a hangar bay on a Star Destroyer. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will take up around 14 acres land, making it the larger single-themed land expansion in either park.

Now the Star Wars-themed hotel is even better as every guest will get to become part of a story line. Meaning that while walking around the hotel you may encounter Chewbacca who needs your help on a mission. Like one that requires flying the Millenium Falcon, in which each person will have a critical job and can determine the future of the story line in real time. It is absolutely mind blowing, and the hotel rooms will be completely decked out. The windows will look out into space, and it will indeed put you in a galaxy far, far away. Chapek said it is the most experiential concept ever for a hotel.

Dedicated entirely to the galaxy of Star Wars, it will be a one-of-a-kind experience where a luxury resort meets a multi-day adventure in a galaxy far, far away.

Depending on how the Millenium Falcon ride goes or how the battle in the hangar of a Star Destroyer turns out, the characters inside the park will interact differently. You could find yourself high fiving with rebels or being chased by bounty hunters. Plus, there will even be a cantina style location for drinks, food, and of course music. And lastly, you will dress up as a Star Wars character when at the hotel and will be part of the story for the entire stay.

All of this sounds epic, to say the least, and you can expect to encounter all of your favorite characters from the film while on site. The new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge lands should open in 2019 at both Walt Disney World and Disney Land. And hopefully, the Star Wars-themed hotel will come soon after if not at the same time to Walt Disney World.
