We haven’t seen a laptop from Google in several years, but that has changed. The Google Pixelbook is a gorgeous and powerful Chromebook. A device that shows what is possible when you merge Software, Hardware, and Artificial Intelligence into one package.
It is a multi-mode Chromebook complete with a 12.3-inch Quad HD LCD and many ways to use it. Powering it is an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor with space for up to a 512GB solid-state drive. Google also opted for USB-C charging and with Instant Tethering your Pixel 2, or Pixel 2 XL will atomically provide the internet connection.
And since it is running Chrome OS you get access to all of your favorite applications including Spotify, Snapchat, and even Adobe Lightroom. You also get a dedicated Keyboard key to invoke the Google Assistant. But Google’s assistant really comes into use with the $99 Pixelbook Pen.
This lets you circle something, and through the same software intelligence that Google Lens uses, you can get information on it. So you can circle a photo of an actress or actor to find who it is. Or even more remarkable you can circle a picture of somewhere, and it will find the location.
Google’s Pixelbook will start at just $99 and will be landing on October 31st.
