The Nokia Lumia 920 For AT&T Reviewed

The AT&T Lumia 920 is a fantastic phone inside and out. Nokia’s collaboration with Microsoft started back in 2010 with the Lumia 900 which made a weak splash through its time of production. The two tech giants joined forces again to update the Lumia, this time with a slew of new features such as NFC (near field communication), AT&T 4G LTE, Wireless Charging and a stellar 8 Mega-pixel camera with highly effective motion stability. My favorite addition was a superb 4.5” PureMotion display which is incredibly vibrant in real life. The lack luster App market prevent you from having the grandest time with the Lumia 920 (or any Windows 8 Phone for that matter) but Nokia has a selection of great Apps that will make your time with the Lumia 920 a blast.

After having the Lumia 920 for a few weeks, I quickly discovered that the phone’s hardware and software was thing of the future. The display by itself is incredibly stunning and Windows software deserves a round of applause for its seamless user interface and simplified home screen setup. Everything seemed to be incredibly easy to use and just about anyone can use it within minutes. This is a huge plus over all Android phones which is still believe are too complicated… as a tech writer, I don’t think I could ever fully figure out an Android phone. But honestly there is little to say about the App market aside from it was very weak. At times it’s seem to cripple the phone’s usability, like streaming to DLNA sources. A lack of Windows near-field tabs prevented me from being able to use the device’s near field communication capability. I would like to say the device was fantastic in it’s entirety but the lack of usability for some of it’s key features prevented me from thinking this phone was perfect.

Windows live tiles were one of my favorite features, and continues to be the visual feature that I miss on my current phone. Windows live tiles isn’t the most impactful advancement in new Windows operating system, but it certainly does add personality to this phone that sets it apart from any other smartphone on the market. It certainly shows how unique the operating system is, and how cookie-cutter android seems to be in relation to the rest of the mobile phone market. Wireless charging seems to be considered a gimmick by my friends and family, and I agree it is not the most complex addition when it comes to new features but the wireless charging was certainly a plus over all.It always worked and it works very well in my opinion. Every way that I was interacting with this phone I seem to enjoy.

The camera is truly a spectacle. The photos it took were incredible and better than any other smart phone I have ever used. The night shots are really what make this phone’s camera shine at the end of the day (pun intended). You won’t believe how well it processes a low light image. The weight of the phone seems to make it feel a lot more like a digital camera. The weight seemed to also give the phone a tough and sturdy feel. You truly begin to question if there is a single molecule of air left inside the phone

With a display that is simply something out of this world, I have to applaud Nokia for their Lumia 920 and I think it is the best phone for it’s hardware and design. It’s truly cutting edge and deserve ownership. Just be aware that it will be some time before the App market is as robust as other App markets.
