Common App Is Preparing For The Big November 1st Deadline!

The Common Application has not had the best launch of their 4th generation online application. This the first year they have gotten rid of the paper application. There have been widespread issues and many students have been speaking out. It is not just the students facing these issues, but also the members and recommenders. Some users have been unable to login to their account, credit card payments that take over a day to process, and many other issues. All of these issues and glitches cause a delay in these applications being submitted. Common Application is stating that not all users were affected by these issues and that application submissions are up 25% over the same period last year. Yet many applicants are getting frustrated and upset over these issues, they have been voicing their opinions over social media. Common Application is working with Hobsons, the company and developer of the new system to enhance the software. This way they can meet the demand of the rest of the season, but the next big date for submissions is November 1st. They are working to fix these glitches and make sure the submissions go through. They did not say whether or not they will be adding more servers to keep up with applications. We will have to wait and see how the Common Application performs on November 1st.

Update 10:oo PM on 10/16/13: We have heard from our readers in regards to what issues they have seen. Cameron P. states that when she put her essay in the formatting appeared to revert into an incorrect format. It appears that Common App has since issued an update that will fix this issue, they do recommend first putting it into a text editor and there placing it into the Common App form.
