Our friends over at AT&T have sent us the Nokia Lumia 925 for us to review. This is another Windows Phone device for the carrier, it will be competing with many other Nokia phones. It comes in lower than the lumia 1020 at $99.99 with a 2-year contract, so the same price as the HTC One Mini. It has the many exclusive Nokia applications and some good hardware. Let’s dive into the full review of the Lumia 925 for AT&T!

Hardware

The Nokia Lumia 925 is running on AT&T’s 4G LTE network. This means that you will get speeds that are up to ten times faster than a 3G network. AT&T 4G LTE is very fast and they cover a good amount of the country. I was very impressed with the speed and quality of streaming movies and browsing the web.

Nokia has been making a name for itself when it comes to it cameras, the 925 continues this reputation. The 8.7 megapixel PureView camera with Optical Image Stabilization Advanced Carl Zeiss optics with Six Lenses is your main camera. It takes beautiful shots and records great 1080pHD footage. Colors look very vibrant, focus is usually just right, and it is a great experience overall. With Instagram coming soon, you will have a new way to share photos in the coming weeks. With the Nokia Pro Camera application on board, you can choose a lot of the settings. I was very impressed with the camera on the Lumia 925.

Nokia is also know for it gorgeous display, on board the Lumia 925 you have a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display. One word can be used to describe this screen, gorgeous. Colors are super vibrant and blacks are dark with depth. Images look extremely life-like, Nokia did a greta job. It has a resolution of 1280 X 768 and you will enjoy every inch of this display.

Last but not least, we have a 1.5GHz dual core processor with 1GB of RAM powering the 925. This may sound like a small processor for any smartphone, but for a Windows Phone device it works just right. I did not experience any lag with the device. Opening and closing applications and animations were very clear.

Software

The Lumia 925 is running the Windows Phone 8 with the Amber update and you get the exclusive Nokia applications. A really nice software feature is similar to Active Display on the Moto X, except it lacks a lot of the functionality. When the device is not being used it will simply show the time and your battery level, it will move around the display. The Lumia 925 features the great live tiles home screen and the very simple user interface that Windows Phone is known for. Unfortunately, it is still lacking the ecosystem of applications. Windows Phone 8 is an older OS and hopefully a refresh is coming later this year.

Nokia makes many applications for Windows Phone 8 and while many people desire them, they are only found on Nokia devices like the Lumia 928. With Nokia HERE Maps, you have an excellent substitute for Google Maps. You get navigation and you can browse for many different locations. Cinemagraphs will let you make your GIFS, very similar to the functionality of Vine or Instagram for Video. With Creative Studio you get a free photo editing software this will let you create focus and blur, cropping, brightness, effects, contrast, and much more.

Pre-loaded on the Nokia Lumia 925 for AT&T you will find Alarms, AT&T Address Book, AT&T FamilyMap, Locker, Navigator, Radio, Camera, Cinemagraph, Nokia Here Suite, Mobile TV, MyAT&T, Nokia Care, Nokia Music, Panorama, Photo Beamer, Vimeo, and many others!

Design

AT&T has the exclusive black variant of the Lumia 925 and it has a very nice design. You have a layer of glass on the front and the body is made out of a metal polycarbonate. These two materials come together to build a device that looks great and is very comfortable to use. It is not a small device, but it fits very comfortably in the hand and it has a nice smooth back. This finish is on the sides of the device as well, the color is not a dark black, but more of a dark grey.

On the back of the device you will find the 8.7 megapixel lens with LED flash, a Nokia logo, a Pureview logo, some legal info, and your speaker. The top of the device is home to the SIM card slot, headphone jack, and a micro USB port. The micro USB port may be the one bad thing about the device, why can’t Nokia just keep it in the normal place? They did this with the 928 for Verizon as well, it takes time to get used too. If you have a setup charging station, you may need to redo your wiring. The right hand side has the volume rocker, power/sleep button, and camera shutter button. Below the display you get the back, Windows, and search buttons. On the top of the display you get the front facing camera, a Nokia logo, earpiece, an AT&T logo, and some sensors.

Bottom Line

The AT&T Nokia Lumia 925 is a great and welcomed addition to their lineup. It becomes the mid range Windows Phone device for the carrier. It is more affordable than the Lumia 1020, at only $99.99 with a 2-year contract. You still get a great 8.7 megapixel camera, that will most certainly get the job done. An absolute gorgeous 4.5-inch PureMotion display is on board and you will love streaming video on this phone. You get speed from AT&T 4G LTE and a 1.5GHz dual core processor. The application store in Windows Phone 8 is growing and Instagram is coming soon. If your are looking for a new smartphone or just want a Windows Phone, be sure to check out the Lumia 925. For More Information On The AT&T Nokia Lumia 925, Please Click Here. We would like to thank AT&T for providing us with a copy of the “AT&T Nokia Lumia 925″.
