Peggle 2 Review (Xbox One)

Our friends over at PopCap Games have sent us Peggle 2 for us to review. This is one of the anticipated titles, as it is the successor to Peggle.  A very addicting puzzle game and now it is back again on the big screen via the Xbox One. It is a very easy game to get into, but the levels get harder as you go along. Simple to say it is a puzzle game, that is very addictive, but does the fun last? Keep reading to see our full thoughts on Peggle 2 for the Xbox One.

Gameplay

Good news for all fans of the original Peggle, in Peggle 2 you will jump back into what you know and love. The gameplay is still easy, intuitive, and fun. With each shot you fire, the physics system of the game gets working. The physics system can make your day or make you retry the level, it brings a lot of fun and mystery to the game. For instance, sometimes the bounce on the bumper that just hit the other peg perfectly, may choose a different route on the next hit. The main goal or objective in each level, is to clear all of the orange pegs. Now, there are optional objectives which will lead to higher rewards. In total you will have 60 new boards out of the box, plus 60 trials which are like the in-game challenges. Out of the box, for the price, that is pretty amazing and more content will eventually be coming. These optional objectives allow you to get a lot of gameplay on each of these boards.

You have a total of five masters, these are the main characters. Each has their own chapter in the story, each chapter has some levels and trials. The opening master, is the Peggle Master Bjorn, a delightful unicorn. Your four other characters would be Berg, Gnorman, Jeffrey, and Luna. Each of the masters has a special power. For instance Gnorman, who is nome who inside of an “iron man” like body, has an electric ball. When you unlock it and shoot it, two other balls near the ball you hit will be shocked and hit as well. These powers can come in very handy and others not so much. For instance Luna, another Peggle master, has the Nightshade power. This makes all the other pegs, but the orange ones, go away or loose there bounce. You can shoot right through them.

The main goal is too hit the orange pegs and if you do this, you get extreme fever. This is all by chance and if you start to play for hours at end, it can sometimes drive you a little crazy. As you hope the ball will land in the 100,000 spot, instead of the other 50,000 or 10,000 ones. This is all by chance and I will say the 100,000 is very hard to get. If you clear all of the pegs on the map, all of the spots in extreme fever become 100,000. This is kind of the bonus and reward at the end of each level.

Music And Graphics

With extreme fever comes some classical music, like Ode To Joy. To put it simply, PopCam Games did an incredible job with the music for the title. It keeps your entertained and coming back for more, the music helps you to stay involved with the title. It’s not just the music, but the sound effects and the noises the masters make as well. The soundtrack is unique for each level, plus if you played the original Peggle, they must have remastered or brightened up the songs for the successor. The music can make you feel super happy or well it really is always joyous.

You will see the nice graphics from the cut scenes, to the boards, and even to the backgrounds. I was very happy with the graphics on the game, they certainly worked hard to make it look good on the Xbox One. Granted we did play the title on a 55-inch HD TV with a pretty fast frame rate. I would expect this quality of visuals and graphics to carry over on where ever you are playing the title. The Peggle Masters will you have rolling on the floor laughing at times with there hysterical dances and just with what ever they might be doing. The cut scenes look great and really help you get into the story line.

Bottom Line

Peggle 2 is an amazing puzzle game that will become super addictive for anyone that plays it. For the time being it is an exclusive to the Xbox One and I can’t seem to find a reason why you wouldn’t get it. For those who don’t like the shooting titles, it is the answer to all of your problems. A fun addictive puzzle game that will entertain someone, no matter the age. For those gamers who like the shooting and action titles, it is a cool down title. The mix of hysterical music and vivid graphics will have you in awe over the title. The best part is that there should be more content coming for the game. Even better is that Peggle 2 costs just $11.99 and I highly recommend it. For More Information On Peggle 2, Please Click Here. We would like to thank PopCam Games for providing us with a download code for “Peggle 2″.
