At the 2014 Mobile World Congress, Motorola decided to hold what one would call a question and answer session. A lot has happened to the company in the past few weeks, their CEO is going to Dropbox, and the even bigger news is that they were bought by Lenovo. No longer are they held under Google, but now by one of the worlds largest companies. Lenovo already makes laptops, ultra books, desktops, tablets, smartphones, and more. The buyout will be bringing lots of new opportunities and energy to both companies.
During this conference Rick Osterloh, the Senior Vice President of Product at Motorola, was asked to talk about their products beyond smartphones. Motorola has spread their wings before, case and point with the Moto ACTV, a truly unique fitness smart watch. He believes that there are a lot of advances when it comes to wearables, it leads to many different sensors being developed. Already in the Moto X, there are plenty of sensors which lead to better experiences. Currently, with the smart watches that are on the market, he sees issues with battery life and style. Motorola plans to address these issues, as they have been developing a watch that will be coming later this year.
We know that Motorola’s take on the watch is in development, now we have to wait for it to come. Luckily, it should be hear by the end of the year.
Rick – We are working on a watch that will be available this year. We aim to address consumer issues like style & battery life #MotoMWC
