HTC and Under Armour are no longer making the Grip activity trip, this has been scratched. But today the two companies unveiled the UA HealthBox, which is the worlds first connected fitness system. It combines a fitness band, a heart rate monitor, and a smart scale that all connect to UA Record. This is the application where you can see insights that will empower you to improve your health and fitness.
The UA HealthBox is a unique concept, it put the elements of activity trackers and spreads them across three devices. It will be compatible with both Android and iOS device, as the UA Record application will be released for both. It is an all-in-one package that gives you everything you need to better mange your health and fitness.
The UA Band is the fitness band component, it is designed to be worn all day. It will track your daily activity, sleep, and workouts; from all of the data it collects it will provide you with a daily capture and from there will set a daily goal. You will be able to track your progress throughout the day on the band itself. You can get the UA Band in black with a red textured underside. The band itself has an exterior shell with a display that is discreetly embedded in, inside the inner shell is where the technology lies. If you are in workout mode, the display will stay on and through an LED light it will indicate your heart rate zone when it is paired with the UA Heart Rate.
Next up is the UA Heart Rate, which is a compact heart rate monitor. It has micro snap technology that makes it undetectable during workouts, even though it is worn as a chest strap. It will provide the user with an accurate calculation of calories burner and can help you customize where your heart rate zone should be.
The UA Scale is the last part of the UA HealthBox, and this is a WiFi scale with a circular design. The technology being used is a sheet of glass with a conductive paint technology that lets it measure weight and body fat percentage. There is an LED display in the glass, that will show you it’s readings, but when it is not in use it will be invisible. It can support up to eight users and it will sync with the UA Record application, within the app you can your weight and other measurements in the overall dashboard.
It seems that HTC and Under Armour have put together an all-in-one package that will integrate into someones daily routine. The UA HealthBox will be launching on January 22nd 2015 in the United States, but pre-orders started today on HTC.com, UA.co, and in person at Under Armour Brand Locations. The UA HealthBox, which includes the UA Heart Rate, and UA Scale, will cost $400. The product itself will expand to other retailers in the United States during the first quarter of 2016 and later this year will expand internationally.
