Verizon Enact By LG Review

Our friends over at Verizon Wireless have sent us the Enact By LG for us to review. The Enact By LG was announced earlier this year and is a lower end device. It is one of the few device on Verizon that features both a touch screen and a full slide out keyboard. It is running LG’s very enjoyable user interface and is similar to the Lucid line, but is more of a lower end device. Keep reading on to see our full review of the device!

Design

The Enact By LG did not keep the very sleek design, that the Lucid line is known for. Then again, it is expected to be thicker thanks to a slide out keyboard. Hoever, the Enact is a very thick device and it comes in at 0.62-inches thick. It has weight to it as well, at 5.99-ounces. The portion with the slide out keyboard is thicker and the color of the main body is black. You have an aluminum silver color on the sides of the device. It has the sliver pinstripe on the sides, that gets thicker as you move up the device, like the Lucid line. A removable black color back is on board as well.

On the back you will find the LG logo, 4G LTE logo, speaker, and a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash. The keyboard slides out from the left hand side and also on this side is the volume rocker and micro USB port. Your power/sleep button is on the right and the headphone jack is on the top. If you pop the back cover off you will find the SIM card slot, micro SD card slot, and 2460mAh battery. Above the display you will see the Verizon logo, earpiece, and the VGA front camera. On the bottom you will find the LG logo and the back, menu, home, and multitasking button.

Software

The Enact By LG is running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with a custom user interface. This software experience is being powered by a 1.2GHz dual core processor with 1GB of RAM. The experience was average as expected, it is very similar to the experience on the Samsung Stratosphere II. It is not the fastest device, it got a little slow after startup and took a few seconds to completely get up and running. When multitasking between a few applications you will notice a slowness as well. Like on the Lucid by LG line, you have two different modes. Those being Starter and Standard, this is similar to the Pantech Perception as well. The starter mode is nice for being eased into Android and the user interface in standard mode is similar. This way you can have an easy switch over, when the time comes.

In terms of pre-loaded applications on the Enact By LG, you will find Accessories, Clock, Amazon, Amazon Kindle, Amazon MP3, Appstore, Audible, Caller Name ID, Google Chrome, Google App Suite, Google Play Suite, Dictionary, FileShare, Games, IMDb, Mobile Hotspot, NFL Mobile, My Verizon Mobile, Polaris Office 4, Play Store, QuickTranslator, SmartShare, Richnote, Tasks, Verizon Tones, Video Calling Video Editor, Video Wiz, Viewdini, Voicemail, Verizon Tone, VZ Navigator, VZ Security, and more! LG QuickMemo is on board as well and this will let you easily capture screenshots. In terms of storage you get 8GB of internal space and micro Sd card slot.

Hardware

For the average smartphone a key feature is a good camera and the Enact By LG features this most of the time, but not always. The 5 megapixel back camera with LED flash was good sometimes and not so good at other times. Sometimes the images appear to have no color and are very washed out. In low light situations they appear very dark and are not very clear. It can shoot video in 1080pHD, but no exact frame rate is available, as it ranges from 20 to 30 frames per second. On the front you have a VGA front facing camera that can be used for video calling and taking selfies.

Verizon 4G LTE is on board and this means you will have fast internet experience. From streaming movies to downloading applications, Verizon 4G LTE has you under control. I was very impressed with data speeds on the Enact By LG. Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, CDMA, LTE, and more is on board.

A very large 2460mAh battery is on board and it will power you through the entire day. Being able to fit a large battery inside, is part of the advantage of having a thick smartphone. It will most certainly get you through a day of usage.

Last but not least we have the display, a 4.0-inch WVGA Display is on board and it has a resolution of 800 X 400. It is a very basic display and it is expected on a lower end smartphone. It is a very small display, when you compare it to a Galaxy  S 4 or a LG G2. It is an average LCD smartphone and viewing angles are very nice on it.

Bottom Line

The Verizon Enact By LG is a lower end first time smartphone device that is now available for free with a contract. You will get the Enact By LG for the reasons that it is a good smartphone. The first being that it has great battery life, it can and will last the full day. The 2460mAh battery, keeps it running the entire day. If you are looking for a physical keyboard and want a first time lower end smartphone for a cheaper price. Besides for theses reasons, there are plenty of other great devices on Verizon for you to choose from. If you want to stick with LG, you should take a look at the Spectrum 2 or the Lucid 2. The Pantech Perception is now free on contract and they offer many other devices as well. For More Information On The Verizon Enact By LG, Please Click Here. We would like to thank Verizon for providing us with a copy of the “Verizon Wireless Enact By LG”.
