Jacob Krol of NJTechReviews stopped by the LG booth at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show to check out the brand new LG G Flex! At the show they announced availability of the device for the US, at first it will be exclusive to AT&T and should be dropping their during quarter 1. Later in the year it will be coming to Sprint and T-Mobile, no word on a Verizon variant.

This is the curved phone and it gives you an interesting perspective, for watching videos and viewing media it might be cool. It feels interesting to hold in your hand and it will take some time to get used too it, for sure. Like the LG G2 it has the buttons on the back and the G Flex is a much larger phone at 6.0-inches. It is harder to use the buttons on the back, but we have to remember this is the first actual curved phone to be hitting the market. So the early adopter in all of us, probably at least wants to play around with it. The screen was vibrant, bright, and of course curved. A Curved POLED display, to be exact and it looked nice. Viewing angles appeared be more limited, as the device curves around. It is almost like having a curved TV, that can also make phone calls. We didn’t get to see the self-healing back cover in action, but it seems like a very neat idea and concept, hopefully it works as well. It is powered by a 3500mAh curved battery, it has to be specially designed for the device.

The LG G Flex will feature 4G LTE connectivity for speed and all the carriers it is launching on support this network. Powering the operating system and software experience is a 2.26GHz quad core Snapdragon 800 processor. It features 32GB of storage and is running Android 4.2 JellyBean, hopefully with updates coming soon. In the operating system you will find familiar features like KnockOn, DualWindow, QuickTheater, and many others.

It is LG’s unique take on a phablet, by making it curved. It is also the first real curved phone to hit the US and it will be quite interesting to see it hit the market.
