Verizon Increases Network At MetLife Stadium To Handle The Super Bowl Traffic!

Over that past year, Verizon Wireless has been hard at work at MetLife Stadium. The site of Super Bowl XLVII, like every year thousands of fans will be at the game and they want to be connected. That many people all using the same network at once, can cause problems, but Verizon has been working to avoid problems for around 18 months. From increasing capacity around the stadium, to the parking lots, and even inside the stadium.

During the regular season, MetLife Stadium hosted many New York Giants and New York Jets games, during those games Verizon was monitoring the network. Seeing the peak performance times, network usage, upload speeds, download speeds, and more. There network engineers, where then able to use that information and data, so they can prepare for Super Bowl 48.

Verizon has been enhancing the Distributed Antenna System, most of the work is hidden, but some of it can be seen. Including the extra cells and the boxes that contain the technology, if you look up under the lights you can see many of the DAS boxes. As well as in the parking lots, in the hallways, outside of the stadium, at the gates, and many other places. Even over the four big screens, inside the stadium. A fun fact for this year’s Super Bowl, is that they will be showing the famous commercials on these boards during the game.

To sum it up, Verizon has been preparing, they have quadrupled the 4G LTE connectivity at the stadium. On a surprising note, they have already begun preparing for Super Bowl XLIX in Glendale Arizona. Check out the gallery of the stadiums network enhancements below.
