The All New HTC One or HTC One M8 has just been unveiled at a NYC press event just minutes ago. A big piece of this announcement, is that it is coming to Verizon Wireless first, in fact it will be exclusive to Verizon Wireless retail locations until April 7. The HTC One M8 is the successor to what was one of the best smartphones of 2013, the original HTC One. The new one picks up where the old one left off and brings forth some new features. Let’s dive into the HTC One M8!
For starters, you still have a full aluminum unibody design on the HTC One M8. The device will once again becoming in a dark almost black color and a silver color. The device is rounded like the original HTC One, which leads to a great feel in the hands. It comes in at 160 grams for weight and just 9.35 millimeters for thickness. It will feature a larger 5-inch Full 1080pHD display with 440 pixels per inch. It will be running Android 4.4.2 with the latest HTC Sense 6.0. The goal with Sense 6.0 is to be able to maximize your experience with the device, from having access to BlinkFeed to having feature rich camera application. HTC BlinkFeed is back and will let you view the latest news, social networks, business news, applications, calendar events, and more. The device will be HTCPro certified as well and will feature applications for productivity.
For speed the device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 2.3GHz quad core processor with 2GB of RAM. This will give you a very fast experience when using the device. In terms of storage you will get 16GB or 32GB internally, plus the HTC One M8 features a micro SD card slot! This means up to another 128GB of storage can be added to the device! This is a major addition to the device and is one that will be most certainly welcomed. You still have an embedded battery, this time a 2600mAh Li-polymer battery. In terms of connectivity you have Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX, DLNA, a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, and WiFi a/ac/b/g/n. The biggest connectivity feature is Verizon’s lightning fast 4G LTE network! With this network you can expect to get some of the fastest speeds around and a high level of reliability.
With the original HTC One, HTC premiered Boom Sound a technology that just made sense. On the HTC One M8, you do get BoomSound dual stereo front speakers, which provide a great experience with sound on the device. The HTC UltraPixel technology is back, this time we have two cameras on the back of the device, being called Duo Camera. The Duo Camera features a UltraPixel primary rear camera with 2.0um pixel size, 1/3’’ sensor size, f/2.0, 28mm lens and dual LED flash. Then there is a Secondary rear camera that captures depth information. This will allow the user to refocus their images after they have taken the photo and allows for depth sensing features. The camera will also allow for sphere shooting, this will let you take a 360°X 180° image. A 5 megapixel front facing camera is above the display for selfies and video calling as well. Along with the new camera hardware, they have revamped the camera application with many new features as well. The HTC One M8 takes new aim at mobile photography and pushes the industry further.
The HTC One M8 will be making a great addition to Verizon’s growing lineup. It will be available today, March 25th 2014, at 1PM EST. It will be exclusive to Verizon until April 7.
