C by GE Unboxing and First Look

Earlier today, I did a live unboxing and first look at GE Lighting’s latest and greatest product. C by GE is the product and it is pretty unique, and it is good news for the idea of the smart home. GE Lighting’s C by GE is available now and it is currently at an introductory price point. Right now you can get the 4 bulb starter pack for $50, it will eventually go up to $70 for this pack.

In the starter pack you get two C Life and two C Sleep bulbs, both of these are LED bulbs that are pretty darn eco-friendly. Both bulbs feature Bluetooth connectivity, meaning you don’t need a hub to set them up. Simply set them up in a socket and launch the C by GE app on your iOS device, and it will find the bulbs. The process for finding them was pretty painless, when it finds the bulb it will cause it to blink. This made it very easy to figure out which bulb you were pairing first.

The Sleep bulbs offer 3 shades, and two of them are warmer tones. Thus they help you to sleep better, as warmer tones helps your body to get adjusted and ready for bed. These different shades are split into AM, Day, and PM, all of this controllable and configurable in the application. You can also control the brightness of each shade and create specific scenes. The C Life bulbs only offer one shade, but have 10 different levels of brightness, as well as the ability to create different scenes.
