Verizon iPhone SE First Look

iPhoneSE

The latest device from Apple has arrived, yes the most powerful 4-inch smartphone, the iPhone SE is here. I decided to head over to my local Verizon store to check out the iPhone SE. This device is the return of the 4-inch Retina display, yes a smaller iPhone. But this is not just a slightly revamped iPhone 5 or 5s. The SE pretty much has all the power of iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus and just from a few minutes with device, it definitely is a solid device.

It is a lot smaller, but not everyone wants a bigger phone, and Apple realizes this. Upgrading the internals make for a big speed improvement. For starters, all the technology from the iPhone 6s is on board minus an upgraded front facing camera and 3D Touch. The iPhone SE now comes in Rose Gold, as well as Silver, Space Grey, or Gold.

The iPhone SE was quite fast, the A9 processor with an embedded M9 motion processor are more than enough to power the device. It comes with either 16GB or 64GB of storage, plus you can use iCloud Drive to store data in the cloud. It is running the latest version of iOS 9, that is of course iOS 9.3, plus you can have Live Photos on this device as well. Not only is the software experience really fast, but on Verizon you get access to their lighting fast 4G LTE network.

Even better, you have the phenomenal 12 megapixel camera setup that the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus have, as the main camera on the iPhone SE. Battery life should be great, as the A9 processor is very efficient and the display is smaller, meaning you should get plenty of battery life from the phone.

Apple Pay is on-board thanks to NFC technology being on-board; thus meaning you can use your iPhone SE to pay once you add your credit or debit cards to the device. While I only had a few minutes device, it was a very nice and familiar experience.

We should have a full review coming in the next couple of weeks on the iPhone SE. In the meantime the device is now officially out, it is $399 for the 16GB model and $499 for the 64GB model at full retail price. The device also starts at $0 on contract for the 16GB model and it is available on a variety of device payment plans.
