Last summer Motorola re-envisioned its flagship device, with the introduction of the Moto Z. This year we have the introduction of the Moto Z2 Force, which still has an almost indestructible screen and some excellent specifications.

It has a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display with Moto ShatterShield technology onboard. Motorola says it will not crack or shatter from everyday tasks or falls, in fact, it can handle some pretty hard drops. The ShatterShield technology works in multiple layers; the one fault here is that the top is a plastic layer which can scratch easily and is not user replaceable.

Working in fashion with this super strong display is a Series 7000 aluminum build that ensures the device won’t buckle or break. The back of the device features the same prongs for MotoMods as well, allowing it work with last years accessories and the newly announced ones, like a 360-degree MotoMod.

While the display and design did not get much of an update, the camera setup did. Following companies like Apple and Huawei, the Moto Z2 Force has a two lens setup on the back. It is a dual 12-megapixel camera setup, one monochrome, and one color. And yes it can do blur effect, like Portrait Mode on the iPhone 7 Plus. There is also a 5-megapixel camera on the front.

Rounding out the Moto Z2 Force is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, made up of 2.35 GHz Octa-Core CPU and Adreno 540 GPU, with 4GB of RAM. It is running Android 7.1.1 Nougat with a Motorola user interface along with 64GB of internal storage out of the box. There is also a non-removal 2370mAh battery inside, that can be fast charged.

While these specifications seem solid, the Moto Z2 Force lands on August 10th for a minimum of $30 a month or $720 at full retail. Granted it is Motorola’s closest device to a flagship, but it is a high price with some lesser specifications in comparison to the Galaxy S8 and iPhone 7 family of devices. The Moto Z2 Force will be coming to T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint.
