Acer has just announced the Iconia B1 a new affordable Android tablet and they also just announced the Iconia A1-830 a more premium Android tablet. They are certainly kicking off the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show with a quite a lot of news. As $129.99 the Iconia B1 is an affordable device, but the more premium A1-830 is only $179.99. The B1 will be dropping in min January and has some different design and hardware features.

Acer is saying the Iconia B1 is the perfect tablet for children or new users and at $129.99 is fits the price point of a mid to low range device. It comes in two different colors, those being grey and red, the color is mainly on the front bezel. The back features a silky finished textured pattern that is comfortable to the touch. In comparison to the A1-830, it ha sa thinner 7-inch 10-point touch display and One Glass Solution technologies. This means you get an improved touch experience when using the tablet and it gives you a brighter display. The speaker is place on the front of the tablet and this gives you better sound quality and sound direction. It is running Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean with an Acer user interface and has 5 hours of battery life. It has 16GB of internal storage, plus a micro SD card slot. It is powered by a 1.3GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM. For video chatting you have a webcam on the front of the B1.

Overall, it seems the Iconia B1 tablet is a beginner tablet and at the price point it is not too bad, but if you are looking for a tablet you can grow into, I would opt for the Acer A1-830. For children, it is nice and they will enjoy the colors. As well as the optional protective case, which comes in an array of colors. The Acer Iconia B1 will be landing in mid January for $129.
